RE: Providence AD Driscoll: Big East Not Expanding
If they didn't turn around their football program around in the past two years then I would have thought of Duke. Duke, Wake Forest and Richmond get the BE into the fertile grounds of Virginia and Carolina. It's not happening, anyway, but I thought of those three programs. Programs like Duquesne would only be possible if the BE gets crazy and goes to 16. UConn, as a state school, doesn't feel it has to be subservient to a collection of small, private schools. Temple, as someone else has already said, may be blocked by 'Nova.
What about Boston University? AAU school. Dropped its football program a while back. I know the basketball program isn't stellar but can improve with association. Already has the academic chops.
