OT - death of a prep coaching legend
http://www.times-standard.com/sports/ci_...ack-curran
No real Rice connection that I can see but for some reason, I thought of a cross between John Wooden and Wayne Graham when I read of the passing of NYC coaching legend Jack Curran. He was the head basketball and baseball coach at Archbishop Molloy in Queens, NY for 55 years I believe before passing away Thursday at the age of 82. He had over 1700 wins in baseball and almost 1000 wins in basketball during that time - pretty amazing numbers - and coached a lot of future stars.
I guess one similarity between Curran and Graham is that both played professional baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies' organization in the 1950's, although Curran's minor league career ended shortly before Graham began his own professional career.
RIP Coach Curran.
