O/T - Girls HS hoops team wins 107 - 2, coach says we didn't run up score
Where to start with this story? There is no 'mercy rule' in Indiana HS basketball. That said, the winning coach claims he played all 9 of his girls. Whoop-de-do. Coach, you know d@mn well there are other ways to not embarrass another team.

At what point do you call off the dogs, so to speak? Is it a 40 point lead or a 60 point lead? Or do you need 80?

If there is a shot clock, use every second of it and forbid your team to take a shot until inside the last 5 seconds. If no shot clock, just set up and pass the ball around (and around and around).

The losing team's 2 points were on 2 FTs (coach probably called them 'stupid fouls' - LOL). Why embarrass them any more than they already are?

Any of you have any other suggestions for that coach on how to not embarrass the other team and your own program when you are clearly superior?

On an aside note, now I know where our former women's coach ended up. j/k

I coached the boys team at a school where the girls tewm was down 48-0 at halftime and 54-0 after three. Finally with under 2 minutes left, one of the girls hit a 3 pointer. Both crowds errupted in celebration. I was in the lockerroom with my boys team, and when we heard the eruption we all knew we scored. The final was 62-6. I couldnt imagine a more brutal game than that.

I hate this type of thing and the comments on the espn article make me feel like I need to take a shower but the losing team in this has done this in the past few years.
2011-2012: Arlington 67, Washington 15.
2010-2011: Arlington 80, Washington 18.
2008-2009: Arlington 83, Broad Ripple 18.
2008-2009: Arlington 78, Manual 14.
2006-2007: Arlington 115, Indianapolis Howe 17.
2005-2006: Arlington 101, Washington 14.
2004-2005: Arlington 104, Howe 26.
2004-2005: Arlington 90, Washington 13.

Could this be Karma??
I no way do I think this should ever happen in high school sports. If this were AAU and not affiliated with a high school then it might be different but we have the obligation to teach our kids the right thing to do. This final score is not the right thing to do.

Assuming 8 minute quarters....a team really has to try to score in order to hit 107. Spare me the BS about not wanting to run it up.

If it's karma from their previous games...so be it.
