Why in the world they continue to try to play nice with XU is beyond me. It's the same thing over and over, the media continues to $hit on UC in this city, makes them out to be the bad guys and the thugs, yet when XU starts acting that way UC's adminitration refuses to stand up for their own school and takes part in covering things up that would reflect badly on XU.

I can't believe they are continuing this game after what happened. Not only that but I cant believe they went out of their way to cover up what Kenny Frease did to the wife of a UC employee in the stands. It just pisses me off so much that this administration operates the way they do. In turn it continues to make XU look like the good guys and UC the bad guys. Would XU's administration cover up what happened had as UC player struck a coaches wife? Hell no. It would have been front story in the paper's, national news, etc...

I just cant believe they are continuing this series with the behavior through the years we see from the Xavier players and especially fans. Nothing good comes from it other than XU getting their Super Bowl every year and having the media in this city drool over what a great program they have.

Pretty sure that Whit knows exactly what happened in the first row with the coaches wife. He was sitting right there!

I also feel confident that if Freese would have actually struck a coach's wife that further action would have been taken, including eliminating the game in the future.

In the video I saw, I did not see any contact with Freese and anybody in the front row.

The video on channel 19 didn't show any physical altercation, however Frease and a couple others were definately standing on chairs throwing F bombs towards our AD and some 60 year old women. That's enough for me.

Father Graham can placate Williams all he wants. Series needs to end. Hostile environment is one thing. To act like a bunch of D Bags is another. Completely classless institution. Maybe they can go coverup more sexual assualts/rapes over there.

Classless...yes. But far from striking another person.

My point for Marcus' statement that there never was any contact with anyone in the stands. That is the basis of most of his argument about whether UC should continue to schedule any upcoming games with X.

There absolutely was "contact" as you put it. Just because YOU didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen. The only reason that Frease isn't a guest of the county right now is that Williams stepped in.

Exactly. There was contact. Anyone that was there saw it. The video didn't show the contact but there was some. I still can't figure out why in the hell Williams stepped in though and covered it up. If he had let the whole story come out Xavier would have looked far worse than they have been portrayed and UC not as bad. Just doesn't make sense why Williams is so concerned with coddling up to Xavier and covering for them.

My guess is that Father Knucklehead asked Williams if he could intervene and make sure it was hushed up. You know all of the local reporters know about it if we do.

I wonder if it was a quid pro quo for no one pressing charges on Gates or Modj?

The only person that can charge either of those guys is Joe Deters and he didn't.

I will say it again. I am certain that if there was contact of any kind with a coach's wife, then there would be much more to this story, both in the papers as well as Whit using it as a reason to end the series.

No contact.

Otto - I am not saying he hit or didn't hit her. Enough people keep saying there were there in that section and witnessed it firsthand. Just saying.

By the way - your right that Deters has the final say on whether to officially indict. You better believe he was in discussions with Williams and Graham after this incident.

Not sure if it would make any difference, but has there every been any talk of playing this on a neutral floor?

Neutral floor is a horrible idea.
A neutral floor means US Bank is filled with 50% UC fans and 50% XU fans and a large number of alcohol fueled students from each school.

It'd be a powder keg with something like the Brawl as the fuse.

Yup. Let the fans fight it out. Bet we'd win. :)

Not a bad idea. Most of their students are hobbits anyway.

Yep. Jason Kelce looked strong in our student section tonight. He could throttle half a dozen of those pimply, pencil neck geeks in their pope outfits without breaking a sweat.

Many of the XU girls look like they could win a street fight though…those girls are big and ugly.

The XU girls are stronger, hairier, and fight better than the guys. Don't want to find yourself walking down an alley around the Xavier campus at 2 in the morning and have some of them come around..

I predict it will be played...if for no other reason than the money generated...the AD needs $$$$$$.

Should be played this year b/c UC fans/admin know how to behave. However, after this year might be time to consider cancelling the game, well until the culture of thuggery changes on the Parkway.

I am not in favor of playing this game. UC gains nothing from this game. Oh wait they gain hatred by Xavier fans everywhere which only fuels a reputation UC is trying to get rid of. Why would you play someone who hates you and can't stand it when you win or calls you names or spread nasty lies about your program and school. Xavier fans are relentless in making sure the thug image of UC continues. This hurts recruiting and many teams will not play UC because of its unfair reputation.

Other teams that play X don't get that treatment. DON'T PLAY THE GAME

I hate xavier more than anyone I know but I disagree that we gain nothing from playing them. It's a sold out game every year and we desperately need more of those, it's a nationally broadcasted game, it's a good out of conference game, and as much as I hate to say it beating them gives us a quality win and losing to them doesn't hurt our RPI.

People complain about the out of conference schedule, taking this game away will only hurt it more. One of the big factors involved in scheduling quality out of conference opponents is money and we aren't going to find a better deal than playing x.

As far as xavier fans giving UC a bad reputation, lets remember just how small their fan base is. Who cares what 20,000 or so people think in the big scheme of things. Nationally, our reputation will be decided based on what we do not what those clowns across town think. The fight is a perfect example. All the xavier fans will say "oh thats typical UC" and other bull**** like that. However, nationally we came out looking better than they did. Mick gained an incredible amount of respect while x was mocked by many national analysts as the "zip em up" phrase became a joke for the rest of the season.

Fights happen in every sport, no one wants to see them but when they happen you have to show that you have the ability to be the bigger person and move on. Canceling this series to me says both programs don't have confidence in their ability to control their players.

I hope to God this series continues because it truly is one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports and it would be a shame to stop something with so much history.

I'd definitely cancel the series if I were UC. Again it is a no win for UC.

National broadcast or not, in this game UC is always portrayed as the "bad guys" and Xavier as the "good guys". It doesn't matter that the complete opposite is true. That is the way it is portrayed by the media nationally, and even more so it is the way it is portrayed by the media locally. UC is much better off dropping this series against that renegade program. Especially when it comes to the local media bias.

Drop the game, let Xavier's nerdy out of control students who treat the game like the Super Bowl and the local media ***** about it for a week and then it's all over for good and UC can move on to bigger and better things.

I agree with that as long as we can find a suitable replacement.
