Congressional Research Service Report: Illegals Covered in Plan
http://www.sfexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/...89592.html
Quote:Mark Tapscott noted yesterday that a new Congressional Research Service report is being discussed by Republican members of Congress. It says essentially that notwithstanding all the rhetoric to the contrary (including, most recently, that of Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass.), there is really nothing in the House health reform bill to prevent illegal immigrants from getting subsidies from the federal government for their insurance premiums under the plan.
Because CRS reports are generally hard to come by, The Examiner has obtained a copy for your reading pleasure.
In its subsection on health insurance subsidies (known as "affordability credits"), HR 3200 does state, "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States." That would seem to solve the problem, but it's more rhetoric than reality. The bill contains no verification requirement or enforcement process for citizenship or legal residency, as exists for other federal benefit programs. The only verification required for the subsidies pertains to family income. Beyond that, as the CRS report notes, everything is left in the hands of the Health Choices Commissioner.
House Democrats defeated all attempts in committee to add an enforcement mechanism that would require proof of citizenship or legal residency for those getting subsidies.

Of course there will be SOME who will get covered. Hell, I work at a company where I would guess about 1/4-1/3 of the people are probably illegal. Guess what? Some/many of them are getting private insurance too. Most have license plates for their cars. Hell, they have JOBS. My point is there will always be some that benefit that shouldn't no matter how much you try to stop it. In the end, they are going to use the medical facilities here-either through going to emergency rooms, insurance or community medical centers. For the most part, you will pay for it.

How come you haven't called ICE? Is it normal for you to see a crime take place and do nothing about it?

He's a typical liberal Steve. The only concern he has for his fellow unemployed Americans and rising unemployment numbers is if he can blame Bush. In reality, like all self centered libs, as long as he's got his, f@ck every body else.

Roberta: Why did Obama spend all Spring/Summer long using an uninsured number that included Illegal Aliens, then the actual bill makes it perfectly clear that they will get coverage?
as WMD said, this is kinda a moot point since next year the Dems will give them all Amnesty anyway.

So now that we are seeing the facts that Obama DID IN FACT LIE, we can expect the loony libs and Obama to change the message any time now. Get ready, here it comes.
