Saw a post over on the Southern Miss board that Kermit Davis is rumored to be one of the coaches USM is looking at to replace their fired coach. Have you guys heard anything about this?

USM AD called for permission to contact Davis and our AD gave permission. It is my understanding Davis and the USM AD have talked. I have also heard that Davis has said he is not going anywhere - that it would take at least 100K a year more before he would consider a move. I suspect USM is too much like a lateral move to be attractive even if it is in his home state. MT has better basketball facilities, a far better basketball tradition-although it was pretty dormant for a decade before Kermit came, and he has a chance to do some very nice things at MT before moving on. He has the program on track for post season in the next couple of years and if he does that, there are a lot better opportunities available to him than HC at USM.

BTW, Davis is a MS State grad and his father coached MS State for awhile.
