Is the Super Bowl fan base proof?
Would the SB still do big numbers if it pitted small fan bases against each other? Like Jacksonville vs Carolina?

I would say yes.

The NFL is good at what it does. Nobody was talking the Kansas City Chiefs till recent.

But really the only small fan base I think of when I think NFL is Jacksonville.

Storied franchises get more viewership from lay-viewers or viewers from other teams. I do think less people would tune into Carolina vs Jacksonville than would Dallas vs Pittsburgh. Not a lot less, but less.

I’d consider the following small markets:

Jacksonville
Buffalo
New Orleans
Las Vegas

I don’t consider Green Bay a small market because they carry the whole state including Milwaukee.

Las Vegas' team has much of LA and Oakland behind them.

Did you realize in '96 that almost happened? Carolina and Green Bay for the NFC Championship and Jacksonville versus the Patriots for the AFC Championship.

I still got my NFC West Champions sweatshirt and my GB vs Car helmet matchup t-shirt.

Pirate. Thanks for the reminder! They were only in their second seasons. IMO Jacksonville beat Denver on a bad call.
