Good point. Talarico is seemingly still leading Paxton in most polls.
Talarico is behind in his own internal polls.

I can understand being so mad at the candidate that you just don't vote for him. But, there is nothing remotely republican about Talarico. So if you vote for him you are not a Republican. Therefore there is no such things as Republicans for Talarico.

Mid-20th century...
Quote:Key Milestones in Women's Labor Force Participation
• 1950: 33.9% of working-age women were in the labor force.
• 1960: Rose to 40.5% as more women found roles in education, nursing, and secretarial work.
• 1970: Reached 49.3% amid shifting social norms and the expansion of the service sector.
• 1980–1990s: Grew sharply, peaking at approximately 60% by the year 2000.
• 2000 through Today: Rates have remained relatively stable and hover near 57% to 58%, shaped by demographic shifts, retirements, and changing economic conditions.
Quote:How the Influx of Women Impacted this Graph
While the timing makes it look like the entry of women caused the 1970s wage stagnation, economists generally point to other primary culprits, while noting two distinct ways women altered the curve:
- The Suppression of Individual Worker Pay: Because the workforce suddenly expanded by tens of millions of new participants, employers had an abundance of available labor. This high supply stripped workers of leverage, allowing companies to keep wages flat even as corporate productivity continued to climb.
- The Explosion of Household Income: While an individual worker’s real wages stagnated after 1974, household incomes rose. Because millions of families went from having one earner to two, the real median household income rose by over 37% between 1984 and today.
Ultimately, the individual pay premium fell flat for decades, but family purchasing power rose because households were supplying twice the amount of labor to the market.
Then toss in the massive amount of manufacturing jobs that left America to go to China.
Quote:2. 1980–2010: The Sharp Decline
Over the next 30 years, U.S. manufacturing underwent a severe contraction, losing more than one-third of its total workforce. The collapse accelerated significantly in the early 2000s. Economists attribute this massive drop to two main forces:
• Automation and Productivity: Rapid technological advancement meant fewer workers were needed to produce the same volume of goods. Industrial output per worker more than doubled during this period.
• Globalization and Offshoring: Heavy manufacturing, textiles, and electronics assembly shifted to overseas markets with lower labor costs, particularly after China's integration into global trade systems in the early 2000s.
If only there was a politician who wanted to reduce the workforce participant numbers AND bring back manufacturing.
Wait, that kinda reminds me of somebody. But who?

RE: Republicans for Talarico
James Talarico, 37, is now leading Republican Attorney General—and Trump ally—Ken Paxton, 63, in Texas’ fierce Senate battle. According to a New York Times/Siena University poll released on Saturday, Talarico is polling at 51 percent, ahead of Paxton at 45 percent.
Alarmingly for Trump, 80, his disapproval rating in Texas is sitting at 57 percent, as his dire personal popularity continues to drag down his party’s electoral chances.
....
Aggregated polling figures put Talarico at a 70 percent chance of victory, compared to Paxton at just 30 percent.
....
Talarico’s rising odds, and the troubling New York Times polling, follow Paxton being secretly recorded slamming President Trump and his failed midterm election convention in Dallas.
“Do you feel like he’s a little bit of a drag?” a person could be heard asking Paxton about Trump in audio obtained by The New York Times.
“So to be honest with you, the numbers—when we did that convention—it dropped our numbers. Everybody’s numbers dropped,” Paxton replied. “Right now, yeah, not good.”

“Ken Paxton is lying about my record—even making fake AI videos of me. No, I’m not a member of the Chinese Communist Party. No, I don’t support sex-change surgeries for kids.
“I don’t have to use AI because the truth about Ken Paxton is bad enough.”
James Talarico’s new campaign ads spotlight:
some of the scandals that have defined Paxton's time as attorney general over the campaign season, including giving admitted child sex offender Adam Hoffman a light sentence, his impeachment for bribery by the Republican-controlled Texas House of Representatives, and his $27 million net worth raised on a government salary.

I would cast a write-in ballot for the late and legendary Karl Otto Lagerfeld before I voted for either Paxton or Talarico.

RE: Republicans for Talarico
When Democratic nominee James Talarico stopped holding campaign events in the Texas Senate race, his Republican opponent Ken Paxton saw an opening to pounce. “Where is James Talarico?” he called out Wednesday during a rally with President Donald Trump in San Antonio.
But that night, while flying back to Washington on Air Force One, Trump seemed to inadvertently throw Talarico a lifeline. The president said on social media that Talarico—who has the flu, according to his campaign—“should immediately report to a Debate Stage” to face off with Paxton.
It was exactly what Talarico wanted to hear, since he had long been badgering Paxton for a debate.
“President Trump just said Ken Paxton should debate. I agree,” Talarico posted on Thursday morning. “Ball’s in your court @KenPaxtonTX.”

RE: Republicans for Talarico
Quote:My sources are telling me Talarico is in a mental health facility. His campaign has stopped actively planning events in the vital homestretch of the campaign.
If this is true, this is actually a time to pray for Talarico. We should, of course, savagely mock his smug, awful campaign advisors, by all means...and while yes, of course, this would be disqualifying for Talarico's aspirations to be a Texas Senator, we must hold empathy for anyone undergoing crisis. Campaigns are brutal, and not everybody is cut out for it. You need very thick skin. As much as I don't want Talarico anywhere near government, I also don't want wish him harm, and no political office is worth having a breakdown. His awful advisors are at fault for this. They pushed him to be something he isn't, and it didn't work.
I'm praying that this isn't true, and he's OK. You want to win these fights on the battlefield of ideas, not the minefield of poor health.
