Havenots doing fine in baseball?
Yes, its major league baseball, but some hope to the downtrodden.
In the American League the Yankees are 25-11, Tampa Bay 23-12, but other than that only the Athletics at 18-17 are above .500. The 3 worst records are the Angels, the Astros and the Red Sox among the 12 teams under .500. And everyone in the Central is within 1.5 games of first. And even the Angels are only 5.5 games out.
In the National League, the Braves are 25-11 in the east with the other 4 with losing records, but all within 2.5 games of each other. In the West, the Dodgers are 22-14, Padres 20-14 with the rest below .500, but even the Rockies are only 14-22.
The downtrodden, however rule. The low budget central division has all 5 teams above .500. And everyone is within 5 games of each other. They are a combined 28 games over .500. Only the AL East, 11 games over, is above .500.
So if the NL Central can rule MLB, there's hope in college sports!

RE: Havenots doing fine in baseball?
Since the Houston Astros switched to the AL in 2013, here's how each division has done:
World Series Champions:
4 - NL West
3 - AL West
2 - AL East, NL East
1 - AL Central, NL Central
World Series Appearances:
7 - NL West
5 - AL East, AL West
4 - NL East
3 - AL Central
2 - NL Central
At-Large Bids:
18 - AL East
14 - NL Central
12 - NL West
9 - NL East
8 - AL Central
7 - AL West
-------------------------------------------------
Ranking the 3 divisions by their performance over the last 12 seasons by adding up each number:
1st - AL East (25)
2nd - NL West (23)
3rd - NL Central (17)
4th - (tie) AL West & NL East (15)
6th - AL Central (12)

RE: Havenots doing fine in baseball?
It's early. One advantage the big budget teams has is depth, and then the ability to trade for help.
