It said: “Many people assume that the pronouns they should use for an individual are obvious: people who look like men should be referred to using he/him, and people who look like women should be referred to as she/her,”

“However, these assumptions based on appearance can be frustrating and harmful, particularly for trans folks who might challenge people’s perceptions of what a man or woman looks like, and those who might use gender-neutral pronouns.”

Here we go again, working OT to spare the 0.001% of the population from feeling like they are different.

This is all over academia. I teach at a school that most academics would call relatively conservative. But I was told last week at faculty orientation that I should begin my class by asking students what their "preferred gender pronouns" are.

I accidentally taught my young daughter to do that.

I remember the first rookie school I helped teach. The first day we had all the recruits sitting in class introducing themselves and when this kid named Timothy got done the lead instructor said "Thanks Timmy" The recruit says "I prefer Timothy" The lead instructor says "So noted Timmy." To this day, 17 years and a totally different fire department later, he's still "Timmy"
