How about spending years casting doubt over whether the President is a US citizen?
Do you really want to rehash that? Something that could have been easily proven false by the president himself the first time the question was asked. Why did he not provide proof immediately to ‘get it behind’ him? He liked the distraction.

Because it wasn’t necessary. Regardless, my point isn’t to get into a birther debate. My point is there is no high ground here.
Why wasn't it necessary?
Remember, my consistent position from the first time I commented on this issue was that place of birth did not matter, he was a US citizen by birth (and hence a natural born citizen) by virtue of his mother's US citizenship. I know, there was a statute in effect for a while that placed some technical restrictions on lex sanguinis citizenship that she didn't meet, but particularly since that law had been repealed, I don't think the Supreme Court under the circumstances would have had a problem throwing it out.
That being the case, I always wondered why he played so coy with it. Hell, I know more about the history of almost any other US president or almost any other current world leader than I do about Obama.

It wasn’t necessary, because it can only be required if successfully challenged in court. To my knowledge, no other president has ever released their birth certificate. Trump hasn’t even released his tax returns, which are traditionally released by all candidates.

He's not required by law to. It's a choice. It's also private information. Only he or someone he authorizes has the ability to release it.

And here's the thing. Trump's personal tax returns are not going to show much. His businesses will all be set up in pass-through entities for tax purposes. So you will just get a one-line item for net income (loss) from the K-1 for the partnership/LLC/S Corp, as appropriate. And it would be illegal for Trump or the IRS to release those underlying returns without the express written consent of all partners/members/shareholders.

None of that justifies stalking people and intimidating them in their private lives with angry mobs.
This stuff has got to stop before it goes any further.
Don't justify it with wahtaboutisms. Both sides can play that for eternity.

Please compare anything anywhere close to a Democrat getting a rifle and shooting a Republican Congressman. Just name one thing. You libs just act like that never happened. What the left is doing now is leading to an even worse incident and you act like a f'n birther comment is equal to what the left is doing now. You are a joke.

So, I guess you would also include anyone that works in the employ of a politician as well?? Like for example: If a citizen is mad at the school board, they can harass any school administrator in a restaurant because they are mad at the elected board member?? That kind of "public feedback" is okay???

They don't feel that, the last decade has TOLD them that.
We're not becoming a socialist/ communist state. Period. End of sentence.
This is the greatest experiment in human history (unless one wants to go back to Glacier migrants, Jamestown or Henricus), bar none.
A free people, fleeing to be free, yearning to be free, seeking freedom, and alas, finding it. Lots of warts and many mountains in the way. But finally, equal rights for all men (people) on this weird asss blue marble.

Harass? No. Public feedback? Sure.
Town halls, open forums, public speeches and press conferences are "public feedback"
Stalking people with angry mobs at dinner, the movies and at their homes is not public feedback.

Just so I have your mindset correct?? Restaurant owner is mad at the mayor, fire chief comes in with his family to eat. He's required at dinner time to listen to the restaurant owners rant about the mayor??

In your hypothetical, sure if the guy goes to eat at the owner's restaurant he runs the legal risk of being prosletyzed to. Would it be odd and probably lose business if the owner accosted any and every customer he was at odds with politically? Yeah... but no one said free speech was without consequence. I will say that fire chief to mayor vs DHS secretary to president is kind of an off comparison. She obviously aligns with trump agenda wise whereas a fire chief is full mystery territory.
To OP: I don't support bullying, violent rhetoric, or threatening of harm against any persons... whether its liberals calling for it like Maxine, or conservatives like Donald Trump has (on multiple occasions).
But if you work in politics... heavy is the head that wears the crown. Pass unpopular legislation or actively enforce abhorrent policies? Expect an ear full from constituents. If those some protesters cross the line? Book em.

Thanks. The point wasn’t about whether I do or don’t want to see Trump’s tax returns. It was more that something extremely out of the ordinary was “required” for Obama, but something very benign and done by all candidates wasn’t adhered to by Trump. A double standard and a bit ironic considering.

Fire chief doesn’t work directly for the mayor so they’d be picking an odd target.
