GOP Turn Focus To FBI’s McCabe Over Texts On ‘Insurance’ Against Trump

Smoking gun? Remember McCabe is the one who despite conflict refused to step away from the Clinton email case and now was involved in the Russia investigation.

Quote:Top Republicans are turning their focus to FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as they scrutinize a host of anti-Trump texts exchanged between two bureau officials, raising questions about one in particular that seemed to reference an “insurance policy” against a Trump presidency.

That text was revealed on Tuesday night when the Justice Department released hundreds of messages between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, who were romantically involved and at one point worked on Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

House Judiciary Committee chair says FBI agent should be fired over his ‘extreme recklessness.’Video
Goodlatte: Strzok texts show ‘strong bias’ in Clinton probe

“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office – that there’s no way he gets elected – but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk,” Strzok texted on Aug. 15, 2016. “It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”

Some lawmakers surmise “Andy” is a reference to Andrew McCabe, and now want to know about his communications with Page and Strzok.

“This [text] is the one that concerns me the most,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said on “Fox & Friends” Thursday, one day after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein defended the Mueller probe in testimony before Goodlatte’s committee.

“Andy is presumably Andrew McCabe … and this text is very troubling because it suggests that they’re doing something, they have a plan to take action to make sure that Donald Trump does not get elected president of the United States at the highest levels of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

This just kid of confirms to me Holder's tweet today. The sh*t is getting real.

And Gowdy has been one of Muehllers stanches allies as far as his integrity. The moment Gowdy says Muehller has to be fired is when the libturds need to suck it up and admit defeat on this.

Depending on the topic, Mueller covering Comey or Comey covering Mueller.

I just find it amazing that obviously neither the plan nor the insurance policy worked.

Clinton literally rigged the primary, and had people in place at the DOJ and FBI actively ensuring her victory.

And she still lost.

...How exactly do you spell D-O-O-F-U-S?

Or, come to think of it, didn't someone else do something just that dumb? Oh, yes, the very Mrs. Clinton who moved the entire email correspondence of the secretary of State onto a homebrew server stashed in a bathroom....

And Hubby. Can’t forget his complicity in all this. How many of these people are/were his stooges to begin with?

I still don't understand that. It seems that the whole republican approach was to nail Hillary by direct confrontation. That's not how you pierce the veil of bureaucracies, once they've circled the wagons. And they had the wagons well circled on this one.

The problem was not whether a stand-down order was given or not. Had I been on-scene commander, I can guarantee you that a stand-down order would have been given, and I would have been giving it. It was an untenable situation from the get-go.

The question is how that situation was allowed to develop in the first place. WTF are we doing sending an ambassador to an unprotected facility in the heart of unfriendly territory with only a light bodyguard, and no troops standing by to intervene in a hurry if needed? WTF was anybody thinking? I've heard two conspiracy type explanations--one, that they were doing some kind of arms deal, and two, that this was some kind of orchestrated charade where we let him get captured to serve as political fodder against republicans for cutting the embassy security budget (which was not a factor here) and the deal is that they're supposed to release him unharmed, but when we started fighting back, that screwed the deal. Those both sound terrible, but it's hard to come up with an alternative explanation.

What you do is force state department to come up with a memo or something to make somebody the scapegoat, like Lois Lerner. What the bureaucracy does is tell someone, "You take the hit, and we'll protect you." They slap him/her on the wrist and make like it's over. Then you blow that cover by indicting the scapegoat. Then, to defend him/herself, the scapegoat suddenly produces this chain of evidence leading to the top. That's how you go after the Enrons of the world, and that's how you go after this one--and now it's looking like maybe the FBI too. Gowdy knows that, better than almost else in the world. So why didn't he do it?

I think Gowdy was under orders from party leaders who were so blinded by their visceral hatred of all things Clinton that they did not allow him to pursue anything but a witch hunt. He looked to me like he wasn't really into it, that he was reading a script instead of going where he wanted to go. And questioning Hillary wasn't really in order until state department nominated the scapegoat and you made him/her squeal.
