On Monday, Pennsylvania’s appellate Commonwealth Court will begin hearing a now fast-tracked case that could invalidate the 2011 map that created the 7th District and the state’s 17 other congressional districts. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has ordered the lower court to issue, by year’s end, a ruling on whether the map is an unconstitutional gerrymander, holding open the possibility that all the state’s districts could be redrawn before the 2018 midterm elections.

Both sides do it, and it sucks.

I guess thats how Trump won and the republicans have a majority in the senate and governorships.

Yup... Maryland is pretty egregious... But so is North Carolina and Ohio.

I've seen some absolutely ridiculous lines drawn in order to CREATE 'minority' districts as a means of giving them power, and I've seen some absolutely ridiculous lines drawn to CREATE 'minority' districts as a means of keeping them from having power in OTHER districts.

Two sides of the same coin, and I've heard people who strongly and vocally support minority positions advocate for them both.

Which is better, for them to have say 20% of the vote in 10 districts or for them to have 80% of the vote in 1?

It's what happens when you are forced to create "minority-majority" districts. It's why SC-6 is less than two miles wide as it avoids the Shandon neighborhood in Columbia before expanding back out to encompass the ghettos north of Columbia. If you'd like to see some of the areas that Jim Clyburn represents just tune in to Live PD tonight. When they show Richland County Sheriff's Dept they are always in the areas represented by Clyburn.

Not what I said or meant...Gerrymandering is bad, awful, and ugly. However, I don't pretend, as you do, that only one side does it.
