WEEK 1 GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS - Spolovilo4EVER - 09-01-2024 06:27 AM
Good News
I will start out with UWG winning its first game as a transiting D1 Squad! Congrats to the Wolves! They did it on the road against an FCS opponent who recieved 1 vote in the ORV category in the preseason rankings, so Good Job! They were also the ONLY UAC school to win this week
UCA played a very tight game against an instate FBS school and came up a hair short, even though they did not get the W, they still impressed!
ACU was by far the most impressive team this week. They took a BIG XII team to OT ( SHOULD HAVE WON!) and actually looked like the better team on the field. They gave the Red Raiders a taste of their own medicine on Offense and even though they came up short on the scoreboard at the end, they looked BY FAR the best team in the UAC in week 1. I hope the pundits were paying attention, because ACU looks like a National Championship team right now! I do not think anyone is going to slow that offense down, YIKES!
BAD NEWS
Where to start
Utah Tech lost by 24, but it was to a top 5 FCS team so it was not all that bad and at least SUU can say they were gutted by a top 10ish FBS squad. There is just nothing positive to say about anyone else except to say that for Tarleton and EKU, at least they were not shut out!

Good analysis but it might be premature to rank ACU so favorably. It is true that the new offense has the whole team excited. They believe they are a very good team and the start was more than acceptable. McIvor told me he loves the offense, and it should be much better this year.
Tarleton was a mystery to me. I thought Greek was clearly the person who should have started. Give the Texans time for their starter to return at QB and things will be dramatically better. UCA looked good, fully agree. I guess we will learn a lot this next game against West Georgia. They certainly earned accolades for their first FCS game.

ACU and UWG I think is the most interesting game this week along with SUU vs UTEP
