OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - ArmoredUpKnight - 07-24-2024 05:30 PM Amazon is going to be a major player in the next round of College Football media deals. RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - The Beaver - 07-24-2024 05:36 PM How can they reject TNT's "right to match"? And how does TNT have 77 billion dollars to even try? If Amazon ever gets broken up for antitrust reasons, this would probably be an exhibit of why RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - bryanw1995 - 07-24-2024 06:03 PM (07-24-2024 05:54 PM)chargeradio Wrote:(07-24-2024 05:36 PM)The Beaver Wrote: How can they reject TNT's "right to match"? If the NBA's reasoning for turning down the match is "Prime has more viewers" rather than "the amount of money you're paying is not the same", then they're definitely getting sued, and they may well lose, too. RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - quo vadis - 07-24-2024 06:04 PM I am not sure that the NBA understands how much many of us like "Inside the NBA". Sometimes during the regular season I tune in to NBA basketball depending on whether it is a TNT broadcast or not. Yeah maybe I am the only one, but I doubt it. But the NBA seems almost eager to be rid of TNT and its signature show. I don't get it.

Amazon & Netflix have the equivalent audience of free over the air TV, so this deal puts well over 150 games available to anyone with rabbit ears & 1 subscription to Amazon instead of multiple cable/streaming services(07-24-2024 05:54 PM)chargeradio Wrote:(07-24-2024 05:36 PM)The Beaver Wrote: How can they reject TNT's "right to match"? That show for NBA is what Sportscenter is to MLB. RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - mj4life - 07-24-2024 06:54 PM The bottom line is that WBD dropped the ball, they underestimated the market for the NBA, plus stating you don't need a product that contributes close to 50% of TNT's ad revenue is just plain dumb. RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - mj4life - 07-24-2024 07:18 PM Some details starting to leak out, Amazon gets exclusive global distribution of their games, co management of NBA League Pass with ESPN, the NBA is taking most of it's digital assets back in house & NBA TV likely gets phased out RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - RUScarlets - 07-24-2024 07:26 PM Very bizarre set of circumstances… they did not have an immediate replacement for Barkley. Ernie getting old… but this whole thing was odd. And how does TNT have 77 billion dollars to even try? 1) They can't, the NBA will settle out of court for cashish, exactly the green mail that TWD wants 2) Who knows, they love borrowing and saddling themselves with Debt, so that's probably how RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - Scoochpooch1 - 07-24-2024 07:47 PM (07-24-2024 07:34 PM)TexanMark Wrote: Cool still won't watch Nor should you or anyone, sport is beyond awful. WWE on hardwood. Even for basketball fans, no reason to watch until April. True bottomline is 1) they couldn't afford it and 2) It was going to be a cash flow negative project so no reason to purchase it. TWD finally made the difficult but correct decision. Works for me if the NBA suddenly falters. But I doubt it since everyone is obsessed with the awful people that permeate the league. But they didn't make the decision, it was made for them. Turner was receiving a cut of everything NBA related NBA.com,social media, League Pass, so they weren't losing money RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - WhoseHouse? - 07-24-2024 08:19 PM (07-24-2024 06:04 PM)quo vadis Wrote: I am not sure that the NBA understands how much many of us like "Inside the NBA". They’ll just recreate the show on a different platform. With or without any of the network drama, Ernie and Chuck are close to hanging em up so the shows not going to be the same pretty soon. RE: OT: Amazon lands NBA Media Deal - AllTideUp - 07-24-2024 10:43 PM We've already seen Warner/Turner(whatever they're calling it lately) license CFP games. Part of what's interesting here is could we see them delve into college sports more? Especially considering their history with the NCAA Tournament, I wonder if they might try to make a play for college basketball rights.
