TGF heading back to GCU? - Lopes87 - 05-31-2024 11:53 AM He withdrew him name from the draft and sounds like he's most likely coming back to play for the Lopes... RE: TGF heading back to GCU? - FoUTASportscaster - 05-31-2024 01:59 PM Seven years of eligibility. Just call the NCAA what it is now, and it ain’t about amateur sports anymore. RE: TGF heading back to GCU? - RCI - 05-31-2024 07:00 PM I wonder if there might be some conference or conferences that reject all the professionalism coming into college athletics? Scholarship+NIL+Salary has to cause the price of college education to increase except for the P5 majors. Imagine, if the NCAA got rid of the four year time limit or the 4 out of 5 exceptions, then you could have players hanging around for 10 years if they are not quite good enough for the real pro teams. In other words, if the NCAA becomes essentially a professional type league, what might the other rules become??? RE: TGF heading back to GCU? - TexanFan - 05-31-2024 07:28 PM There is a report out today stating the NCAA will grant an additional year of eligibility to any D1 student-athlete who was ruled ineligible to compete for any part of a season during or since the 2019-20 academic year. This will mainly apply to transfer students. We had several student athletes in their 8th year of college eligibility this past year and I guess now we may have some with 9. RE: TGF heading back to GCU? - FoUTASportscaster - 06-04-2024 11:46 PM I miss college athletics from my time as a student in the aughts and in the teens. This version is getting harder and harder to watch. RE: TGF heading back to GCU? - wewererebels - 06-27-2024 02:43 PM Scatter-shooting while wondering where all the posters went. How many years of eligibility do NAIA athletes get? Maybe we need to go there, or perhaps we should go completely amateur, like with club football. Will Illegal Aliens get unlimited years of eligibility? I feel sorry for freshmen. Don't you have to at least make a team roster before you can enter the portal? it's hard to imagine even being a walk-on if the college basketball team has 9 transferees and 2 frosh scholarship athletes on a 13 man roster (UTA had 13 players and 13 staff members for 23-24).
