Reliant Stadium was the trend setter. Once Jerry saw that (in humiliating fashion I gleefully add) he wanted a stadium bigger and better.

Or should I say "NRG" Stadium. I still call it Reliant. 03-snooty

Reliant Stadium is more modest than Jerryworld or Kronkeland. The teams needing new stadiums should.go with the Reliant model rather than a billion dollar monolith.

It's going to cost $1B+ regardless. When colleges like Florida and Nebraska are spending $500M+ to renovate, building new is easy $1.2B. Jacksonville thinks their renovation could exceed $1B and the new Bills stadium is $1.7B and new Titans stadium is $2.1B.

Reliant was backed by the area wanting football back, so local government approved it.

JerryWorld was the result of the city of Arlington, TX having a one cent sales tax for the Ballpark in Arlington and as opposed to let it expire, they renewed it for Cowboys Stadium and since the incoming taxes were paying off the bonds early, the city went to the Rangers to build Globe Life Park. The combination of local population growth and team success has allowed Arlington to either pay off bonds early or make so much progress on paying off bonds, they refinanced and much lower interest rates.

More importantly, Arlington is one of the most populus cities in the US which really doesn't have mass transit. Just a minibus system which began in 2017.

Even if their stadium tax went away, the city doesn't have the ability to excise the 1% sales tax increase needed to join DART in Dallas or Trinity Metro, Fort Worth's system.

Kronke just had the cash to do whatever and wherever.

Don't forget Atlanta and Mercedes Benz Stadium too and it's birth via hotel taxes and it's innovations.
