NFL QB battles - Erictelevision - 07-27-2023 12:59 PM
ESPN.com has article on QB battles. It’s behind a paywall, so could someone summarize the teams involved?

I haven't seen the article and I don't have ESPN+, but I figure it would be regarding these teams:
- 49ers - Battle between Brock Purdy, Trey Lance, and Sam Darnold; Purdy surprised everyone last season with his play, considering he was the last chosen in the draft; Trey Lance and Sam Darnold are both third overall picks from 2021 and 2018, respectively
- Colts - Battle between Anthony Richardson and Gardner Minshew; Richardson was the 4th overall pick in the draft this year, and the third QB chosen overall; Minshew has started in the NFL in the past and has had some good moments
- Bucs - Battle between Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask; I don't know much about Trask, but as a Browns fan, I'm quite familiar with Baker. When confident, Baker can look like a better than average QB. From what I hear, Baker has the starting job for 2023.

Baker was the assumption coming into camp, but Trask so far has shown out comparatively. Time will tell, but keep an eye on the Bucs' QBs.

Just saw a quote from the Bucs OC that the competition between Baker and Trask has tightened.
Definitely looking like the Browns made the right move to move on from Baker. That said, whether or not Watson is the answer is yet to be seen.

In Baker’s defense: he played through an injury he shouldn’t have.
