Scheer Tweet on Arizona BOR - BeatWestern! - 06-02-2023 08:51 PM

A Tweet this evening by Jason Scheer confirms for me what I thought might be an issue with Arizona's potential move to the Big 12 without Arizona State: the Board of Regents.

Ultimately, as Scheer confirms, ASU is unlikely to leave the Pac-12, but the belief is that Arizona will receive approval from its BOR to join the Big 12, with or without ASU.

So, when the dust finally settles, I believe it will be the pair of Arizona and Colorado leaving the Pac-12 for the Big 12.

I'm not sure exactly what that would mean for the potential Big 12 add of Gonzaga and UConn, too.

The Pac 10 only works if all 10 stay. If 2 go, then it doesn’t make sense for ASU to stay—they better be jumping too, as should Utah.

Another "scoop" from Scheer that can never be proven to be incorrect.

If Arizona State is not going move? That means Arizona is stuck in the PAC 12, and Colorado showed no interest to rejoin the Big 12, or they would have left long time ago.

Maybe, if the 4C leave, you will quit posting about your diatribes about Boise? Can we hope for this?

So we have Arizona and Colorado warming up to the Big12, 44M reasons to do so I guess!

...I think ASU may be 'waiting it out' to see if the B1G comes calling... they MIGHT, but... it may be a costly game... but with AAU status now, ASU might have a somewhat 'open' invitation to the BigXII whenever the need arises... 03-idea

If we get to the point that Colorado and Arizona have gone to the BigXII, ASU won't wait long. It's possible they wait to see what the B1G does but that might be a very dangerous game with Utah and SDSU waiting in the wings for a spot in the BigXII 04-cheers

All 4 corner schools now become valuable for the Big 10. Grabbing them would shut Big 12 out.

Tony Petiti to do list:

1. Win a title in FB or MBB this decade.
2. Keep from being outflanked again by SEC in Realignment
3. Meet the 7 new Presidents in my conference
4. Outflank big 12 b/c they're a major threat

Yep, outflanking the big 12 is very high on Petiti's list.

Colorado got funds for 170 research.
Arizona State got rewarded 125.
Arizona got rewarded 83.
Utah got rewarded 83.

UCLA 113
California 106
USC 84
Stanford 82

Illinois 117
Northwestern 77

Purdue 137
Indiana 76
Notre Dame 56

Iowa 26 (Iowa might be pushed out of AAU soon)

Minnesota 102

Michigan 160
Michigan State 108

Maryland 102

Nebraska 60

Rutgers 63

Oregon State 67
Oregon 31

Ohio State 81

Penn State 155

Washington 176

Wisconsin 116

Those 4 schools alone could fit in with the Big 10. Only Oregon and Washington State does not fit in with the Big 10.

Why is noone talking about five corners, or six corners? Only squares have 4 corners.

Is it even possible for 5 or more states to join to each other at a single point? And, for the record, don't rectangles (and parallelograms) have four corners as well?

So limited 2-D thinking. 03-melodramatic
