Was a fun night, broke the Legion attendance record. Hopefully we do the same next round.

Yeah, we're (Nashville) kind of ticked that our manager sat our starters until 60' since it was a Cup game and not regular season. Would have been exciting to see Birmingham host Nashville with all our supporter groups within easy driving range. I really like the format of the Lamar Hunt Open Cup but we had a mid-week game last week, a regular season match Saturday, our game last night, and a regular season game coming this Saturday. It is what it is. All clubs have to navigate the comps outside of the season like this, CONCACAF Leagues Cup, Campeones Cup, etc. in addition to having players holding spots with their national teams. I think the record will be broken again. Regardless of the distance between CLT & BHM, it's the quarterfinals of the Open and Bham should start getting excited.

I wonder if David Beckham will be there for his team, he's one of the owners and the team's president 04-rock

I was hoping that it'd be on tv as typically CW68 does show home/away Legion games but didn't see it on schedule when I looked.

I think since it's a cup game the TV deal is different. It was on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqz21h8sMrM&ab_channel=B%2FRFootball and the next round should be as well.

Pretty cool for the city. Also, the crowd is even more impressive when you consider it was going head to head with the SEC baseball tournament (with Alabama playing at the same time as the Legion).

They also have a USNMT player and one of the best strikers in MLS history.

My grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed the match. Charlotte dominated the first half, but didn’t score. Had one bounce off the left post. A second yellow card, equaling a red card, for one of the Charlotte defenders changed the momentum. Kasim’s goal was a thing of beauty.

The weather was perfect. I wish UAB’s football games were evening games. Just sayin’!

All MLS games are part of the MLS package on AppleTV (it’s been excellent…almost all games have the same kickoff time on Sat so part of it is a 360 kind of channel. But Open Cup and games in other comps are not “official” MLS games.

I know Legion wanted Nashville as well since they've beaten 3 teams to make it this far in the cup. Would have been a good omen to have gotten a 4th.

But you're not kidding about managing teams. It almost cost us against Chattanooga when Legion thought they could trot out an academy team and dunk on a NASL squad. And they've had to deal with this cup run on top of an extremely front-loaded schedule within the league and injuries to our best players. Hopefully they can get healthy with this little gap and come out strong against Miami.

Something important is that even if Legion aren't able to advance, the point needs to be made that we're still one of the favorites to win USL and fans need to come back.

Hope the Legion pull it out. Great to see the team thriving.

And again Birmingham media will paint 13,000 people there as the most amazing, greatest thing for city ever, and UAB football will 2x or 3x that regularly and it will be, “nobody cares” even when it ranks among the G5 leaders.
