Great story and great shots of him guarding DeAndre Williams in practice.

TBH I was skeptical when they brought Joey in because when he was here its not like he was a dominant offensive threat down low. I was more hopeful he could teach the bigs how to be tough down low and battle for boards. Feel like Malco has shown a lot more technique with his footwork since Joey came on and even KO has shown a little more toughness battling down low when he gets minutes. Don't think he even gets a salary so there was no downside per se but I'd have to say so far its been a homerun "hire".

Joey looks like he could still handle business

Gotta love Joey!

If you can put the ball down vs Dorsey, that tall stork for purdue shouldn't be a problem.

Good segment. Enjoyed it

Joey is a little over 6-6 but his presence on the court was that of a 6-9+ Jumping Jack/Hulk. He could and did legitimately intimidate 7 footers. I remember them calling him Deebo during one game on ESPN.

He wasn't a scorer but he ran the floor like a deer and was a strong finisher on the break. Joey threw down some of the nastiest dunks in tiger history. Often in the biggest games.

People still overlook how critical he was on offense...

He would screen down low to open lanes for CDR and Rose to drive.

We havent had a big since then who does that. All of our bigs have considered themselves scorers and they want to position for a shot on offense instead of screening the defense so others can make easy shots.

Also one of the reasons he was so good on offensive rebounds... by screening he was also blocking out for easy rebounding.

If he can help Kao be better....he is worth it.

He is beyond worth all the 'its'. He's Joey Dorsey. Rebounding machine.
Working with ALL the bigs....teaching Williams how to get by him.

Chandler is already more confident.

My father is 91 and a Tiger fan for about 70 years. Joe Dorsey ranks among my Pops' all-time favorite Memphis players. We're thrilled he is working with the program.

Such an intimidating presence on the floor, for such a nice, joyful guy off the floor. I’m proud that Penny brought him in.

Love seeing former Tigers come back to the M.

I know Antonio Anderson has definitely expressed interest in coaching and even coming back to the M, as well, to help out. Hope Penny finds an eventual spot, for him, too. FYI - double A was at the Tigers championship game against Houston this past Sunday too.

I don't see that happening. Kao is not a basketball player. He's a 7 footer who can jump. No basketball instincts at all.

Agreed, AA is one of the all time great Tigers.

Nice that he was able to get in and help the team. Maybe an actual paid position will open up for him someday.

Brain flash. Joey is why C Lawson has improved during the season.

Chandler was taking on two and three Houston rebounders at times.
