If the article was only talking about his history/accomplishments as president I would agree. But his quote about being excited for the future and not going anywhere makes it seem like he intends to stay awhile longer.

That's a bad description. It's a new building with several meeting rooms & a catering kitchen for student organizations to hold their meetings/events. It's being built on the corner for 14th St S and 11th Ave S.

A well-qualified individual with experience as a college/university president, well-versed in all aspects of an urban institution (not just a med school) and chosen after an intensive search and careful vetting and interview process. Someone dedicated to advancing UAB as a research institution, undergraduate program and educational resource for its community (that is, I want the adult students back, too).
You know, what it's supposed to be.
What do I fear we'll get?
Either a) a Trustee or Trustee-adjacent crony/relative or b) a suddenly retired politician or political donor, or a political-adjacent crony/relative.
I don't think we'll get another Ray. If they go for a stooge this time, they'll just appoint one of their own and raise the big fat middle finger.

I hate to say this because I despise the man, but is it possible that for right now Watts is the best we can hope for-at least until a couple of Trustees go away
