Make or break year for Roof and his staff. And NOT because of the baseless rumor of the program folding. He's either 26 or 38 games under .500 depending on if you count the interim year. He's also been around the game long enough to know that's not good enough and his job is on the line this season.

This team has a lot of returning talent and I'm certainly hoping the best for the squad. A full off-season of the new pitching coach should help that side of the ball, and returning the MAC player of the year should be a solid core on offense.

Not sure I'll make it up to Oestrike for a game this year or not.

Call it baseless
It is true
Various sources confirmed
And if you want to call it baseless, what are you basing that claim of baselessness on?

Heya gang - this isnt the place for the 'is baseball going away debate'. this is the place for us to chat about baseball results during the season. my goal is to attend a game or two this year - but well see i have a toddler.

I appreciate your comments.

For those who wish to think about it, remember, there are many, many considerations such as budget, min. number of men's sports required per MAC, Title IX, facilities, possible swap of sport X for sport Y, etc.

I have NO idea where EMU is in terms of those issues, esp. budget.

Once again remember EMU is a member of a conference. There are conference-wide considerations on adding or deleting a sport which the conference sponsors. We are so used to thinking of 100% participation by schools in FB, MBB and WBB (all are required for membership in the MAC).

The MAC sponsors 10 men's sports and 12 women's sports. It is almost sports ala cart. Obviously EMU does Men's T&F but not soccer.

Another schools may do soccer but not T&F.

I apologize for calling it baseless. My very connected source claimed it that way and it was irresponsible of me to relay it directly to here. I truly am sorry Edified.

Ultimately, my source tells me it's absolutely not true. Your source says it absolutely is true. We have a good old-fashioned, Schefter vs. Rappaport style source off.

I double-down on the notion that the pitching has taken a step forward with a full season of Hilt as the pitching coach. Nothing against Achter, but Hilt, though at a D2 program, has a proven track record of being able to succeed with college-aged guys. We can score runs. We've got guys that can defend. We HAVE to have pitchers that can get guys out. Seems simple but it has been a real struggle the last few seasons.

Looks like a dark, dreary day (with no lights?). NKU is wearing black unis. Ugh!!

Stadium looks like a h.s. stadium.

I like weird stadiums. this one is too sterile.

Dear Friends,
Our alma mater is now 0-2 after losing the second game of the series against Northern Kentucky.

Thanks Roof. No wonder they want to shut it down.

It's a long season (and actually a long season with 50+ games, not a long season like watching basketball has become).

1-2 coming back after the opening weekend, and quite frankly should have won the second game.

Our next opponent, Evansville is 0-3 with a midweek at Kentucky. Towson, who we play to open March, is 0-4.
