Academic or athletic, show off what’s currently being built on your campus

Georgia Southern’s practice facility is starting to take shape

That's taking a lot of prime parking spaces. Where will everyone go?

It will be used as a centralized area for gameday festivities. They are building premium turn-key tailgate spots on the sides of the facility that will be rentable on gamedays. They’ll also repave the center aisle leading into the stadium so things like the Eagle Walk will go right past the new tailgate area.

The baseball complex upgrade is now officially in the design phase. Not sure on the timing but with most of the funds raised for the $20M project hopefully groundbreaking will commence after this season.

New Business School.

A benefit of having an Alum school President that made hundreds of millions in Silicon Valley. He puts up $25 million of the cost.

Keeping with the theme of baseball, new 3rd baseline expansion with suites, premium seating, and field level fan zone coming to Georgia Southern’s Clements Stadium

ULM opened the new student HUB (replaced the old Student Union Building). Two story, open seating with study rooms and multiple eating opportunities, including Chick Fil A and Starbucks. Massive outdoor TV.

Sports front: ULM will replace the field turf in Malone at the completion of spring practice. In the near future, Fant Ewing will be getting a major overhaul. It is supposed to be an emergency evacuation shelter but is not ADA compliant so federal and state funding is being secured. There is to be additions to the structure, including classrooms/labs/admin space. What will be done as far as seating and amenities goes is yet to be seen but the last price tag I heard would be possibly $60 million (I may be wrong).

With the hiring of Hartwell, I fully expect the long awaited Strategic Plan to be made public and an honest to God fundraising campaign to be kicked off for infrastructure.[Image: a6da54954cb59b5916885c8f3ab7aac8.jpeg]

This picture was taken a couple months ago. Not sure but I think it’s getting close to done. After it’s done we are getting a new video board in the outfield it will be the largest in the conference and the old one is going to softball.

We recently finished a $1.4 million facelift. The premium seating at field level behind home plate is new as well as the turf field and other amenities like the picnic benches and playground area for the kids.

Bobcat Ballpark clubhouse, pitching lab, more seats and suites, etc. in design/fundraising stage.

Bobcat Stadium south endzone complex… is supposed to break ground this spring but might still be fundraising.
https://www.facilities.txst.edu/pdc/construction/stadium.html

https://txstfootballcenter.com/

$125+ million Hilltop student housing buildings in process. Just completed foundations not long ago and has 2 cranes on site, framing/shell going up.
https://www.facilities.txst.edu/pdc/construction/hilltop.html

$14+ million STAR park add on. STAR park is STEM research park. This is almost completed. Not technically on campus but an area like 2-4 Miles from main campus that University has been building on to for bigger STEM research facilities.
https://www.facilities.txst.edu/pdc/construction/irl.html

Another $140mil STEM building, this one in main campus. Selecting contractor stage.
https://www.facilities.txst.edu/pdc/construction/stem.html

Most of these links came from this page below. Left off some admin stuff and the huge new music building supposed to be in the works and left off items regarding the Round rock campus.
https://www.facilities.txst.edu/pdc/construction.html

Should be some more student house in the works fairly soon. The Presidents house was taken down and university bought new president a house slightly off campus in a really nice area on top of the hill behind Spring Lake. Supposed to expand STEM “neighborhood” and add more dorms in this area.

New president has also publicly stated IDPF is high on his list and wants to get started on that fairly soon. Biggest problem in the way of that is would destroy stadium parking as only surrounding land is either a Grocery Store, or city owned section 8 housing and eminent domain would be covered in a decades worth of red tape.

Also according to the AD… the new Video board will be the largest in the G5. But it won’t be installed till after this coming season is over due to supply issues with Daktronics.

JMU has been on a building spree (much like the rest of higher ed) in the past 10 years, here are some of our current projects

Softball Stadiun

There haven’t been too many pictures circulating online but JMU just finished their expansion to the softball stadium. The expansion essentially added a second level to the infield seating. In addition a believe the clubhouse also received a reno but JMU hasn’t provided too many details.

Volleyball Court, Locker rooms, offices, and training space for Olympic sports

JMU when they closed down the old Convocation Center to open the AUBC, spent $20 million to renovate it into a 900 seat (expandable to 1,300) volleyball arena. On top of that there will be a training space for indoor track and field. As well as locker rooms, offices, sports medicine, strength and conditioning for 7 Olympic sports.

Carrier Library Renovation and Expansion

Starting in May, JMU will be undergoing a $95.7 million renovation of Carrier library to modernize and expand the library which first opened in 1939 and had received additions in 1971, 1982, and 1995.
