Does DeAndre STILL have one year of eligibility? - KidMemphis - 01-22-2023 04:24 PM

Can DeAndre actually come back for one more year? I’ve heard conflicting information on this? Does anyone know?

Would be awesome if he had one more year and could mature in the off-season, become a better 3 point shooter (today notwithstanding) and cut down on the emotional outbursts and dumb fouls at the ripe old age of 28.

I kid, I kid. Love the guy and it would be amazing to have him back. The team next year will be young and we will need him. Does anyone know?

I don’t think so. But if he does, I guarantee he will be back

He has 2 more years. Maybe more. After this one.

TV announcers:
"And at 27 years, DeAndre is the oldest player in college basketball."
"And at 28 years, DeAndre is the oldest player in college basketball."
"And at 29 years, DeAndre is the oldest player in college basketball."

This is his last year, unless the ncaa gives him the waiver that Penny is going to apply for

Fixed it for you

He's been in school for 5 years. However, he sat out his first year at Evansville and this is only his 4th year on the court.. So normally, he would be like a 5th year redshirt senior this year. But there's the COVID year that gives them all a freebie. But that sit-out year is not an automatic freebie. So it will require a waiver for him to come back - but he could.

That ain’t nothing. Cincinnati has had 30 year old college players for decades…

brandon miller, the freshman at alabama, is 20 years old

If he has a year available he will be back. Probably making more this year than Lester and minott combined

I hope Penny can pull off a little waiver magic. This is his best season yet.

AMAZING....Isn't it....What even DeAndre can accomplish when there is NOT a little knucklehead running around "gambling" attempting to steal the ball on EVERY possession (giving the "bigs" UNNECESSARY fouls)...Doesn't understand clock-management; can't make a "proper" pass into the post; CAN'T shoot; Can't "properly" run a fast-break; Can't split a double-team On & On & On 03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead

Now, those are starting to realize that INEPTNESS that haS been illustrated..... And the players that Penny & staff have brought to this WONDERFUL UNIVERSITY....are starting to look & perform just as he envisioned and could "possibly" play at the NEXT level..... This 01-rivals ain't personal....It's business...Ofcourse we would love to have a personal connection with a loveable hometown hero.....But ^_^:|O_O ain't it...

He's in over his head playing next to aspiring players that this is NOT personal for....It's a business for them also....So get out of your dayum feelings..."real recognizes "REAL"...

Just think back to the beginning of his season, where Chandler/Jayden/Alo were starting over these more dynamic players...Ye the team was "functional" and showed spurts of what "could" be, however you must be able to see deeper into the situation to realize that this team was ALWAYS capable of "more".....NOW it's FINALLY being unleashed...Seeing the ability of McCadden & Keonte being unleashed and their playmaking abilities can NOW crescendo as they gain confidence to exploit their true capabilities 05-nono

Chandler and Jayden didn't start at the beginning of the season. Alo clearly won his starting role in preseason based on how Kennedy and McCadden were playing early in the season.

RE: Does DeAndre STILL have one year of eligibility? - micman - 01-26-2023 08:02 AM

Per my recollection of previous threads, Kennedy, Kao, CLaw, Dandridge, Hardaway, and Williams all still potentially have their bonus COVID year remaining; if they desire to come back. Also, per my recollection, the NCAA is no longer allowing for the COVID exemption allowing over 13 scholarship players to accommodate the bonus COVID year eligibility.

I suppose the 2 Hardaways can become walkons if necessary.

RE: Does DeAndre STILL have one year of eligibility? - micman - 01-26-2023 08:04 AM

If Williams were to come back, does that mess up the team chemistry with JJ Taylor? Could we go small playing them together without a center?

thagr82008 got banned? Boy! We have some posters that are full of themselves.

It's ok for someone to have a different opinion than you.
