2023 Football Roster - northcoastRocket - 01-12-2023 10:30 PM
Initial roster is published on the UT website. From what I can see, here is the list of players no longer listed. No guarantee that I didn't miss some. The ones that graduated are indicated. Other than the grads, no significant losses. Constant leaving is not unexpected given how far he was buried in the depth chart.

Very low attrition. Only 5 true starters lost and to graduation not transfer which is amazing in the era of NIL/portal. I'm not counting Ateman as he filled in for Berg. Perhaps that's unfair since he did start majority of season. Ateman and the others gave UT a lot of quality play and production. All MAC performers. Givhan was a solid back-up and played plenty.
Lot's of talent back for '23. UT will be likely conference title favorite

Let's not forget last year our No. 1 receiver left us for Arkansas in May...so fingers must remain crossed to keep this very low attrition for a few more months.

Nick Rosi was 1st Team All MAC, no other Rocket OL made the 2nd or 3rd Teams. Need a few OL bring the quality of play up to be on those teams.

I thought Givhan came on strong as the year progressed. I wonder about his opportunity at the next. He’s quick and has good length.

There was a post earlier that although he has a year of eligibility left, he has finished his engineering degree and was going to move on to a job he already had lined up.

He did. No doubt about it.
Has talent and athleticism. He was a HS team of Turner. Candle's team found a good duo for sure.

Yes, both have contributed well over the years with their final year being the best. It is a great way to go out. Well done. The staff needs to keep recruiting that area.

On the transfer portal, I saw that Kent State's top running back, Marquez Cooper, 285-1331 yds, 13 TD's transfer to Ball State. Their 2nd best receiver Dante Cephas, 48 receptions with 744 yds, 3 TD's is also transferring with a question mark behind his name. That could be a good pick up for UT.

Looks like OL Mike Bergen is no longer on the roster. Unsure if transferring or just retiring - he was injured much of last year. So, definitely need the new players to step up.

I've seen on twitter that Tiede and Zurby, both from Canada, have transfered to Canadian schools. Don't know what the eligibility rules are up north, but Tiede has already played like 5 years in the US.

That's a shame. knee injuries are definitely a long term health issue and he's a big guy. Possibly a tough but wise decision.
I wish him well. I remember when JC signed him he stated he had a definite shot as a future NFL player.

Xavier Black was recruited as a WR from Canton Mckinley but was quickly switched to DB and was never going to see the field. He was listed as a WR in signing list and early rosters but then moved to DB. He was possibly "cut" by UT. That's pure speculation on my part.
Mike Coleman had potential and has seen limited PT but he was also 3rd string.
I guess AJ has proven to himself that he can compete at the highest level but it's a major time donation as a walk-on. Good luck to him. I think he was well liked and respected by the staff.
College football is a big big commitment - physically and mentally. I'm not sure I'd have been up for it. Tough.
