Double commitment today from the Hopperton brothers. WR Preston and Rhode Island transfer TE Hunter.

Seem like two nice additions. Won't lie, I'm having a hard time comprehending Preston's Sr year stats. 45 TDs 3013 yards in a 12 game season for a WR/RB feels... Nuts.

I haven’t seen them play, but Preston’s number look absurd. Cann they play at this level and eventually have an impact?

I think they both can play at this level. Not sure what type of impact though. Preston seems raw as a receiver, but runs well and could be one of those players that turns out to be a steal if developed. Wouldn’t expect much from him in the first few years. Hunter played on special teams at RI and it’s safe to say he will at least be able to contribute in that phase.

They won’t all be successes, but buy in is important. Like all turnaround situations, I’m sure the staff did not have 100% buy in this past year and many of those players are being shown the door.

First 2025 opponent is Florida St. ($1.2 million)

Still have 3 more OOC games to schedule for 2025, I’m going to assume an FCS school at home and 2 bodybag paydays on the road.

Glad I don't pay taxes in North Carolina anymore. Talk about overreach.
The Free Tez Walker movement paid off, he got his wish, I guess having a Governor writing letter for you has it's perks afterall. I'm sure if he were leaving UNC for KSU they'd have all fought hard for him as well.

UNC got everyone behind the Free Tez Walker movement including their elected politicians, now that’s he’s got it he’s giving up his remaining eligibility and declaring for the NFL draft. 03-drunk

Any word on the new OC or will we be waiting months for the hiring?

Who knows? There never seems to be any sense of urgency.

RE: Football Offseason - Polish Hammer - 12-09-2023 11:41 PM

Judging by our offense this past season it seemed we had an Offensive Uncoordinated instead of an Offensive Coordinator.

Seems Kenni picked up where his recruiting left off last season, a WR from an FCS school nobody could identify on a map that had 32 catches for 437 yards and 2 TDs TOTAL in 3 seasons. Also got a JUCO player with offers from Lamar, Mississippi VS, and UT-Martin, so at least we beat out a couple irrelevant FCS programs.

The MAC should go FCS. "Money games" will still be there, like YSU and OSU this past season.

Yeah, there haven’t been too many examples of players moving up finding success when they didn’t put up big numbers at a lower level of play. JUCO is still a crap shoot, but there are better JUCOs available now than ever due to a higher level of focus on the portal.

Another commitment. This time from the HS ranks in 3 star WR Javier Etheridge.

RE: Football Offseason - Polish Hammer - 12-10-2023 04:42 PM

We’re going to Pitt, Penn and Tennessee hoping to win with players we pried from the University of Tennessee….University of Tennessee-Martin that is.

Javier Etheridge is an intriguing kid, some big time offers before committing to Indiana and then I guess getting lost in the shuffle of coaches. But he’s only listed at 156 lbs., he’s going to need to make great strides in the workout programs.

RE: Football Offseason - CoachPMac - 12-11-2023 06:18 AM

WR/TE Jahide Lesaine decommited and committed to Syracuse after his visit to Syracuse this weekend.

RE: Football Offseason - Polish Hammer - 12-11-2023 06:38 AM

Something else I just noticed about our recruiting class, we now have commits from 7 WRs and 5 safeties!?! Of our 22 verbals 12 either play Safety or WR. We only have 1 IOL, 1 OT, I TE, 2 DT and 1 DE, in this recruiting class, we need more capable bodies in the trenches. Not only should you not bring in 7 WRs all at once, you have to stagger the depth at the same positions by class, maybe 2-3 WRs per year, 4 or 5 if you just lost everybody. Who is going to block for them?

In another year or two entire MAC will be FCS. MAC. Never meets attendance requirements and going FCS would save on scholarships as limit is less than FBS. Easy to blame on NIL issues
MAC has a requirement that ALL members must field football teams so KSU cannot leave on their own and stay in MAC

Either that or stay put and wait for the "new" division that is sure to come eventually for the "big money" schools. The NCAA has taken the first step in suggesting such a thing. They can call it the "$$$ Division".
