Packed schedule this week:
Nov 22 Purdue Fort Wayne
Nov 23 either S Miss or Winthrop
Both games part of the Cancun Tourney
Nov 27 UC San Diego at home.
Purdue Fort Wayne is 2-2 Southern Miss is off to a strong start at 4-0 and Winthrop is 2-3. UC San Diego is 1-4.

Thanks for the layout/summary, 79! Would love to see EMU turn things around with in this stretch. I don’t think 1-3 is indicative of their talent level.

This trip to Cancun is EMU's chance to get right.
Eastern currently ranks 328 in defensive efficiency. Out of 363. When your offense is ranked 249 that leads to 0 wins over D1 opponents.
Now, IPFW's offense is not strong. They didn't give Michigan as good of a game as we did, but then turned around to only lose to Northwestern by eight. They're basically the opposite type of team as EMU -- their top three players in minutes are two graduate students and a fifth year. Their "youngest" regular contributor (over 20 minutes per game) is a redshirt junior.
What will win out? Their experience? Or our skill?

For a non-P5 (and non-Gonzaga/Houston) student-athlete to get a spot on an All-American team, the actual team has to have a great season.
Cameron Krutwig was an AP All-American on a Loyola team that won 26 games. Obi Toppin in 2020 was on a Dayton team that went 29-2. Malachi Flynn in 2020 was on a San Diego State team that went 30-2.
In the MAC, CJ Massinburg got an Honorable Mention nod in 2019 for a Buffalo team that went 32-4. Isaiah Johnson was also an Honorable Mention guy in 2017 for Akron after they went 27-9.
Emoni has put up the numbers through four games. The results have to start going in our favor for him to have a real chance.

The MAC basketball darling Toleodo, who had received some votes in the AP top 25, just lost on a neutral court to 1-4 UMKC. UMKC lost to a D2 team earlier this season...

Good info Frank, thanks! I have two thoughts. First, Toledo is probably not a top 25 team, I don't see them much better than last year's Rockets. Second, anybody can lay an egg just like we did at Bradley.

Actually the women's team is doing well so far but I shudder when I think of conference play.

He went out breakfast and met a basketball coach, but he wasn't an EMU coach but a CMU coach.
Seems instead of Cancun, I'm in Dana Point.
The tourney is the SoCal Challenge being held in San Juan Capastrano.

The Cancun Challenge games are the only games not being broadcast on WEMU this season.
