Weather 46/34 and 70% chance of rain!

RE: TooLame next up! - Cat-Man - 11-19-2022 07:47 PM

Anyone who can accurately predict the weather 6 days in advance in Cincinnati should be the highest paid weatherman in the world.

Tulane is pretty legit this year. Dual-threat QB, very good RB and a tough defense. Bearcats are going to have their hands full.

RE: TooLame next up! - Billy_Bearcat - 11-19-2022 08:13 PM

Friday after Thanksgiving at noon with a backup QB. I predict we sleep walk our way to a large early deficit and can’t dig back out.

Tulane 31

UC 13

RE: TooLame next up! - Bearhawkeye - 11-19-2022 08:28 PM

I'm still trying to work my way through it, but IF this is accurate there's a pretty good chance we are looking at back-to-back games with Tulane:

Quote:Tulane vs. Cincinnati: November 25

Winner is in the AAC Championship Game
Loser is also in the AAC Championship Game, unless:
1. UCF beats USF
2. Tulsa beats Houston

So UCF goes to play the winner of our game with Tulane if they are in a 2-way tie for second with the loser of our game with Tulane (the Tulsa beats Houston scenario above)

But if we lose to Tulane, UCF beats USF and Houston beats Tulsa there's a 3-way tie for second (behind Tulane) at 6-2. It gets "fun" from there.

RE: TooLame next up! - Billy_Bearcat - 11-19-2022 08:32 PM

Number 1 is a certainty so the tweet is meaningless. USF is downright awful

That seems like a fairly safe assumption (but there weren't a lot of folks picking 15.5 point underdogs Navy today either.)

So if we (and UCF) win and you'd rather face UCF at the Nip, root for Tulsa over Houston. If you'd rather get a back-to-back re-match with Tulane at the Nip this time, root for Houston and it may happen.

If we lose (and UCF wins), root for Houston and we may have a second shot at Tulane in the CCG. Head-to-head results (e.g. our loss to UCF) won't be determinative since Houston didn't play either of us in a 3-way tie for 2nd scenario.

I don't think it's necessarily right. My reading is if there is a 3-way tie it could end up coming down to the computer composite rankings. Not sure who would be ahead between ucf and Tulane in that scenario.

Does UC have a chance to make it even if they lose to Tulane with a three-way tie with UCF and Houston. Would head to head matter since Houston didn't play either? Then go to computer rankings?

What part isn't necessarily right? (By "fun" I was indicating it could get complicated...)

That the loser gets to the aac championship game on a 3 way tie

OK, I see. That's the "fun" scenario I was talking about so I agree, thanks.

Tulane dismantled SMU and looked good. UC…not so much. Not making any prediction but Tulane is gonna be a tough game. Glad it’s at Nippert.

RE: TooLame next up! - UCBearcatlawjd2 - 11-20-2022 09:33 AM

Somehow, someway, UC will win this game.

I agree with you. No reason to believe that because Tulane looks better on paper, but I also have a good feeling Fick will pull out another ugly win

UC will still have the best big play guys on the field on Friday and a head coach that has big game experience. Add in Nippert and that should be enough to get the job done.

Massey has UCF at 24 and UC at 27 currently so I guess UCF would get the nod on three way tie. Agree?

Last AAC regular season game04-cheers

No idea how Tulane's offense could pass us by like it appears to have.
