Game Week: @Kent State - emu steve - 11-12-2022 05:59 AM

Wow, between the election and UofM MBB game, there is another FB game coming up Wednesday night at dinner time (6 p.m.).

Should be a tougher test than Akron was. Kent State destroyed BG and need to win out to make a bowl.

Hopefully Evans is motivated to hit 1000 yards this season. When was the last 1000 yard rusher at EMU?

Darius Jackson in 2015 and before him Bronson Hill in 2013.

Two guys that spent time the league.

Dear Friends,
I watched some of the Kent vs. Bowling Green game, and if Kent plays that well against Eastern, we could be in for a long night.

I agree with that, but I also watched their game the week before and they looked very beatable in their loss to Ball State. As '93 said, we need Evans to be ready to roll, Kent State had a very hard time stopping Steele. Their quarterback didn't seem overly impressive to me, and they were without their #1 WR (who might be the best in the MAC), he played against Bowling Green but only had one catch. So, we'll see how much of a factor he is this week.

I think they are actually a pretty similar team to us. They can move the ball and score, their RB is good (already over 1,000 yards). As much as we complain about defense, they give up more yards and basically the same amount of points.

It will be a game that if we can stay on schedule we'll be right there and have a chance to win, similar to the Buffalo game. We were in that game and it was basically first offense to stub their toe would lose...that ended up being us. I see it being an offense-driven game, but not some 56-52 game, probably more like 34-31 because both teams will want to (and can) try to run the ball and control the game as much as they can.

One thing to keep an eye on is the kicking game. We could have a big advantage there. We know how good Gomez has been for us, but their kicker has struggled. He has made all his extra points, but is only 15-24 on FGs. Even on easier kicks he has had a hard time (3-7 between 30-39 yards, 6-11 between 40-49 yards).

Unfortunately we cannot string two victories together so will we do it this game? CMU is playing better and better and we need to find one more victory somewhere.

Kent needs to win their last two for bowl eligibility so it's all on the line for them. It would be nice to knock them out and set up the possibility of going 8-4 with a Michigan MAC trophy. This is another game where EMU needs a time consuming scoring drives. I don't think EMU wins a shoot-out.

kent state has everything to lose. theyre going to come to play.

Agree once again with Nickle, no way do we win in a shoot-out.

The weather looks like precipitation is likely and if so, I doubt a high scoring game is likely anyway. Smith at QB for sure.

Evans is our marquee RB, his versatility and toughness makes him so. I love Jackson's speed as well, but I would like to see Boone more involved. He seems better at getting three yards when the line of scrimmage is bunched up. Just my take.

Game Day!!

Let's Gooo!!!

Toledo had a rough one last night.

3 things to watch for....
1. Kent State is favored and hungry for a bowl win. We have to come out early fired up.

2 Eliminate dumb penalties. Let's see if CC actually addressed this with his team after last week's game

3. Continued progression of Austin. He needs to have a game. I anticipate this being a shoot out

I’m concerned; when I woke up this morning I was hanging to the left. Whenever that happens, usually our passing game struggles.

I'm flagging you for "unnecessary over-sharing".

Kent State's leading tackler is out. Apparently their top receiver Cephus is potentially also out.

So is Powell responsible for throwing 4 yards short of the sticks on 3rd down? Or is it Creighton?
