Sure did.

If we're looking for MAC connections Sean Lewis of Kent State's name has been brought up for both Wisconsin and Nebraska and Jim 'The Shark Humper' McElwain has been brought up for Colorado. We'll see where it all goes.

I can't see the alumni base of A P5 school wanting Chris Creighton, he's 40-59 in his 9th season! They'll overlook that if he wins the MAC championship game, and A bowl game at some schools! Mcelwain someone will take a chance on quite possibly! C Mich was 1-11 3 years ago! Already won the MAC West title as well! It's all about championships and winning unfortunately!

Unless one of those schools say, "Look what Creighton did with arguably one of the weakest programs in Division 1 Football. Imagine what he could do with Power 5 resources and talent." Add in his character development skills, and the academic record he's achieved, and there just might be a program willing to take a flier on him. Plus they could probably get away with paying him at the lower end of their salary scale.

Do yourselves a favor and watch the barstool sports story about the shark humping. They find the real guy in the picture...funny as heck

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022 - fanfrompowellspub - 10-04-2022 06:46 PM

McElwain is having health issues, unlikely to leave. Colorado needs someone young, innovative, I think Sean Lewis would be good there. Colorado also needs to figure out a conference if the PAC 12 implodes.
Nebraska is going down anyone that goes there is hoping to get an 8 figure buy out and fired in three years.
Georgia Tech is interesting maybe Jeff Monken? Deion did well in ATL
I think Wisconsin fired Chryst to keep Leonard, so they stay in the family.
Arizona State might be the most attractive job but the Sun Devils may also need a conference, Bryan Harsin may need a Jet off the plains and Tempe may be the perfect fit.

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022 - Ken Barna - 10-04-2022 08:58 PM

Dear EMUGLORYDAYSthe90's,
I would disagree that McElwain would be a candidate for any of these openings. He has a very spotted background with former schools, but especially the University of Florida where he made up some story of his family being targets of a kidnapping. Fanfrompowellspub is also correct with McElwain having some health issues. And, if Central continues to lose more games this season he will fall into a mediocre category of wins and losses.

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022 - holybovine - 10-05-2022 01:16 AM

McElwain is also 60 years old. He isn’t going anywhere.

Dan my gut says NO to both questions.

Coach Creighton won't even get a look from any of these schools, donor bases would go crazy about his unspectacular W-L record. He's staying home for sure.

Just two head coaches from the MAC have been poached by P5 football schools since 2017. Fleck was an obvious dead bang winner, he did BIG things much like Nate Oats at Buffalo basketball. Lance Leipold, however, took what was arguably the worst job in the Power 5 in freaking April because presumably was the best choice of a shallow group of candidates. If any current MAC football coach gets a look from the P5, they can thank Lance for that.

Kansas was for sure the worst P5 school, Last bowl game was 2008! Buffalo was as bad as EMU when Leipold took over! But, he took Buffalo to the top by year 3! He also won 6 NCAA DIII national championships as well! Leipold is flat out winner! Creighton isn't in the hemisphere unfortunately! Our goal is .500, and a bowl game is sufficient! All any of us alumni want is what Leipold, Fleck, and Babers did!

No one in the P5 cares about that. Which is why I am here and not my alma mater's board.

So this last weekend I traveled to Texas A&M to watch a football game with my buddies. We pick 1 game to go to every year and this was it. The experience was great and those fans are super passionate about a 3-5 (now 3-6) team. It was cool to see. The point of my story is that I ended up talking to an assistant coach for the Aggies after the game. He spoke about the difference between Jimbo Fisher and previous coaches. It was very interesting to hear him talk about how successful coaches don't care about being liked and other things like cursing. He said the difference between SEC coaches and others is that these guys are wired like robots and only care about progressing the team and program to the highest bowl games. He said the players get crapped on by the coaches when they screw up and the assistant coaches get it worse.

I love CC and I do believe he can get us where we need to go. I do wonder if bringing in a few new coaches would or could follow what this coach was saying and be the spur to get us going on our horse.

They brought in 3 new coaches this past season (Prince, Roberts, and Johnson).

True, but these changes were reactive. Some of us would like to see planned changes. Changes implemented to bring new ideas and, hopefully, propel the team forward.
