Temple and Duke have only played once before, in the 2018 Independence Bowl. Coached by Ed Foley after Geoff Collins had accepted the job at Georgia Tech, the Owls rolled out to a 27-14 lead and led at the half before imploding in the 2nd half and eventually losing 56-27, with Daniel Jones putting up 5 TD passes.

Both teams went 3-9 last year, Temple losing their last 7 after a 3-2 start and Duke losing their last 8, and as could be expected with showings like that both teams will see new Head Coaches making their debut. Temple's Stan Drayton is working on bringing back the Temple culture of the last decade lost during the disastrous Rod Carey years, while Duke will be led by former Texas A&M DC Mike Elko. Elko was a finalist for the Temple job that eventually went to Manny Diaz (and then Carey) in 2018 but ultimately withdrew from consideration.

First time posting a game thread but I'd been checking for 2 days for this thread and it was the only one not posted - apologies if I stepped on anyone's toes getting it up.
I really think Temple rebounds some this year, more than people expect. 4-5 wins this year and back to a bowl next year is a reasonable goal.

Mathis has been named the QB starter but didn't show me much last year albeit with a porous O-Line and no running game. I expect transfer QB Patterson to get some action. The Owls only scored 1 1st Qtr. TD all of last year so we can expect some improvement, right?

I see Temple as a 2 win team this year. The damage Carey did to the program is massive. This is a full rebuild with a first time HC. I think Drayton is the right guy for the job but he needs time.

Duke 24 Temple 14
It was massive, but there are some really nice pieces in place - a solid, veteran OL, 2 former 4 star QBs, exciting WR group. Defense will be difference between 3 and 5-6 wins. Should beat UMass and Lafayette, should put up a fight with Duke, and we always steal one conference game we shouldn't. I think 3 is the floor.

Good job Knights03. As VickMike stated, it's your job to lose. Go Owls. I have no idea how this will go tonight. II think both squads are in total rebuild. This is like those packages you buy where you are warned "Some assembly required." Which coach will assemble best, first?
Quick edit: Is the game on ESPN+? I thought it was ACC Network only.
