We lost against the only top 25 team we'll play all season so we'll be having fun in the Belk Bowl unless we win out and the CCG team is undefeated.

Belk Bowl??? 01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle

Book your tickets to Birmingham.

Reading full sentences is hard. If we lose again we have 0 shot at a NY6 bowl. If we play an unranked multi loss team for the CCG I wouldn't be shocked if we get left out if NY6 as well

Possible, but remember that the access bowl has to have a G5 team.

True - If BYU only loses 2 games though it would be hard to keep them out with the schedule they have.

BYU does not take the G5 spot.

Ahh good to know! Thanks

I think I hard time seeing this winning out unless the defense starts making plays. My biggest disappointment was the lack of play making on that side of the ball.

Yep...I had them at 10-2/9-3 (leaning to the former) to start the year, and that hasn't changed because of today.

Houston really struggled today. This may have been mentioned. UC could repeat if they figure out some things offensively

Cincinnati had 440 yards of offense...I get that we missed some throws, but gotdam if that ain't figuring things out, are we just expecting us to be the 2019 LSU Offense? That performance will roast all but two remaining teams on our schedule this year...and those teams won't have offenses that can do what Arky just did to us.

More concerned with the defense. The offense will eat up AAC’s non-existent defense. No matter who the QB is the AAC doesn’t have the size or athleticism to stop UC. My concern will be can UC stop veteran QB’s that will be on the upcoming schedule.

From ESPN: "Cincinnati had the talent to win the game, but its mistakes were too plentiful against a quality opponent."

After losing so much talent, this wasn't surprising. The second half was totally different from the first.

11-1 is still very much possible, along with a NY6 bowl game.

Was hoping a better quality video would be posted by now but this will suffice..

Pissed about Renfro, but I’m surprisingly satisfied with today’s result. They should win the conference.

That's where I'm at too...nothing about this weekend makes me think any team other than maybe UCF has the on-field talent we do.

Agreed. The biggest threat to UC's NY6 bid will be a Cinderella team rising out of another G5 conference and climbing in the polls with an unblemished record. I do believe UC has growing credibility with poll voters these days. The next three games are in Cincinnati and should all be winnable. 3-1 will look pretty strong nationally a month from now.

Fortunately the usual suspects - boise, app, SDSU, also lost

RE: Week 1: Bearcats at Arkansas - OKIcat - 09-04-2022 08:47 AM

Looking ahead, I'm not too worried about the season overall. In two plus seasons UC has only lost to the last two national champions (Georgia, 'Bama)
and a ranked, highly touted Arkansas, all away from the friendly confines of Nippert. Would any B10 team have done better? Maybe OSU wins one of those three games.

As fans, we're the product of our team's success in recent years and have soaring expectations. That's the way it should be. I see one loss in the AAC, a berth in the CCG and maybe another NY6 game, barring major injuries that can derail any team's season.

At SMU will be a very difficult game. They’ve got some big-time talent on their roster.

RE: Week 1: Bearcats at Arkansas - rath v2.0 - 09-04-2022 09:57 AM

I don't mind being outgunned. We weren't.

I absolutely loath games were we shoot ourselves in the foot repeatedly. I don't know why we seem to have a couple series like the one after the fumble recovery a season. Infuriating vapor lock.

I deleted that one from the YouTubeTV library. Don't want to watch it again.

It will be interesting to see how SMU fares under their new staff. They have always had a lot of talent, particularly at the skill position, but they have folded down the stretch the last several years and tend to play poorly against more physical teams (they are 1-5 against UC all time and arguably the one loss was a game a bad UC team should have won).

RE: Week 1: Bearcats at Arkansas - rtaylor - 09-04-2022 10:14 AM

I don’t think anyone left on our schedule will be able to match our physicality and speed. So there.
