Still left USM, @VA, @JMU and likely SB Champ Game.

Their "best" win would be against a team ranked in the 50s in most computer rankings. A 2-loss AAC champ will absolutely beat them out for the NY6 spot.

They are also underdogs in those last two games. Typically that level of schedule isn’t going to get in done. It also doesn’t help that Old Dominion destroyed them.

It appears almost certain the American will be in the Cotton Bowl, but the conference race is still five horses. I think TV would prefer future B12 members Houston, Cincy, or UCF, all of which are or were ranked at some point this year. Tulane is ranked and the Cinderella story. ECU, meh.

I still believe UC will finish strong in November and head to Dallas for the NY6 bowl.

In other words, all the chest thumping from the Fun Belt fans earlier in the year for getting some P5 wins is all for naught. I've said it before and I'll say it again...it's the conference strength you play in and how you play over the course of the season and in particular at the end. The CFP ratings showed all we need to know with two American teams ranked and Cincinnati still on the cusp.

Ohio state is really lucky they are playing a bottom 10 team in the country.

RE: 2022 College Football Season Thread - BearcatMan - 11-05-2022 02:54 PM

UCF using the old swinging gate in the wind defense on that first drive. Would appreciate them keeping that up through the rest of this game.

RE: 2022 College Football Season Thread - BearcatMan - 11-05-2022 04:07 PM

Arquon Bush did UCF a huge favor knocking out Plumlee...Keane is just a plain better QB. They should be thankful for us allowing the rest of their season to be possible.

RE: 2022 College Football Season Thread - BearcatMan - 11-05-2022 04:11 PM

Gus Malzhan just attempted a 64 yard field goal with 40 seconds left that didn't even get past the 5, was returned to midfield.

Texas A&M fell to 3-6 today, and still have to play LSU and Auburn this year. It looks like a long shot that they will be bowl eligible. They were a pre-Season Top-10 team. I'm curious if that's ever happened before.

Dear Lord Liberty smacking the Hogs in Fayetteville.

RE: 2022 College Football Season Thread - rath v2.0 - 11-05-2022 06:18 PM

Arkansas stinks. We stunk worse.

RE: 2022 College Football Season Thread - Lurkercat - 11-05-2022 06:33 PM

I was hoping this would be a "relaxing" year and we wouldn't have to root for teams to lose every week. But hopefully UH goes down tonight and UCF next week against Tulane. I don't think we can beat UCF in Orlando if we even get to the CCG

Hugh Freeze could get some big offers.

I wouldn’t fret the rest of the league. Probability we lose at least 1 more is approaching 100%

ND up 14-0 over Clemson.

Clem is so over rated.

RE: 2022 College Football Season Thread - rath v2.0 - 11-05-2022 07:56 PM

It's about to be 49-42 SMU over Houston...in the second quarter.

Yep, I've got a feeling next week is the clock striking midnight for the season

It's 56-35 SMU at half. Two defensive staffs should be fired on the spot03-lmfao
