dangerously delusional - ncrdbl1 - 08-02-2022 04:41 PM

The Big XII commissioner has reached out, now get this, to Minnesota to try and get them to leave the B1G and join the Big XII.

Minnesota is a founding member of the B1G thus they get extra B1G money in TV deal compared to other teams added later.

You must be beyond delusional to think any team, much less a founding member would leave the B1G for the Big XII.

Dangerously delusional.

The Big XII said the were done expanding when they took UCF, Cincy and Houston.

Then they thought they could get the four corner schools but were apparently turned down.

Now the are looking elsewhere.

We must be way down on the list.

That is delusional. Totally out there.

One program I might could see changing conferences is Missouri. If the Big 10 wanted them I could Missouri listening very closely.

Nebraska might decide the extra dough isn't worth it.
I could see them returning if say Colorado did as well.
True Oklahoma would still be gone, but I imagine they could be persuaded to re-ignite a rivalry with Nebraska in an out-of-conference game.

Now that’s funny! Ain’t gonna happen!

Since Nebraska lost their AAU status, the rest of the B1G kind of sees them as an embarrassment.
Nebraska has kind of rattled the B1G's cages, and the B1G has not been happy with it.
I did not say it would happen, I said I could see it happening.
Nebraska's reason for leaving the Big 12 was Texas domineering the conference.
Now that that 800-pound gorilla is gone...it could be seen as a nicer pasture than playing Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State and such would be comparable to a killer SEC schedule. They'd have an easier time competing in a weakened Big 12/14 whatever.

I can think of around 60 million reasons why Nebraska would never return to the Big XII. Using the most optimistic projection of the Big XII next TV deal they are going to be around $60 million per year short of what B1G teams will be getting.

No one is going to give away $60 million a year in order to win a few more games.

NO TEAM IS GOING TO CHOOSE TO LEAVE THE B1G UNLESS THEY GET AN INVITE TO THE SEC.

The B12 never said that. In fact, they said the opposite.

Ummmm, the article is clearly clickbait and is not true. If you just use common sense you would ask "why would the Big 12 want Minnesota?" They're a terrible fit geographically, they're not a natural fit culturally, and they don't add additional revenue. It's amazing how these random clickbait articles can easily dupe people. The Big 12 is fully focused on the Pac-12 schools and maybe San Diego State.

UMN is the kind of top-tier-conference-mediocre-talent that would suit the Big12 well. Too bad they're already feasting off of Big10 money. I bet the Big 12 could sweeten the deal by offering Maryland, Rutgers, and Northwestern.
