I don't think he should be labeled a sex offender or even be kicked off the team based on what we know. I'm probably the last person to get all gung ho about enforcing the law (and i'm pretty sure this is a low grade misdemeanor).

With all that said, making excuses for someone slapping random girls on the butt (multiple times over) isn't it.

Needs some sensitivity training and 100 hours community service.

At risk of putting out misinformation, the article on WXIX says

Quote:"According to court documents, Eugenio is accused of smacking the buttocks of three people on campus while riding on a Bird scooter."

Who made excuses for him?

Inappropriate as hell. This is 2022 not 1975. Have some self-awareness dude. At least we've come a long way since torturing roommates and punching horses.

Pretty cool to have watched another [soon-to-be] NFL tight end play for the Bearcats.

And it certainly begs the question, with periodic scoring droughts in some games this season, why isn't he being the target for more of BB's passes in the red zone and end zone?

Fick alluded to this recently with how defenses are playing us - less opportunities for Josh and Lenny. My gut says if we could run the ball with more consistency then things would open up more for the tight ends in the passing game. That said, here are the stats for our two tight ends between this year and last year...

2022
Josh - 22 REC / 221 YDS / 3 TD
Len - 14 REC / 135 YDS / 2 TD

2021
Josh - 26 REC / 332 YDS / 6 TD
Len - 28 REC / 268 YDS / 4 TD

The trajectories aren't vastly different especially if you consider at least a bowl game and hopefully a conference chip game remaining. IIRC, Josh had some nagging injuries last season so that may have lowered his numbers some.

Watching some games today just emphasizes how vanilla UCs offense is. It seems like UC runs 5 to 6 plays.

Is the limiting factor the coaches calling the plays or the abilities of the players executing them?

With some losses in the top 25 today. We might get back in the top 25. Not saying that we deserve it

We only had a 2 page offensive playbook last year, too and had some better players and a few better coaches on that side of the ball.

I believe the limiting factor is the difference in the type of abilities of the players... With BB as QB1 teams are blitzing far more than last year because a QB run or scramble doesn't have to be accounted for and those blitzes appear to be limiting sightlines down the seams and in the middle of the field where the TEs do their work.

Not debating whether BB or Des is "better". Just pointing out that the play calling, blocking schemes etc have not changed even though the foundations of the offense have. The excess blitzing dictates that either UC keeps the TEs in to block or BB has to make quick decisions to pass. Both negate the ability for the TEs to get into patterns or for BB to look for them. When the D brings one more than UC has blockers available the traditional passing lanes to the TEs get clogged or blocked because the D doesn't have to account for anything happening outside of the tackles. Again, that is not BBs "fault" but if UC is going to have a pure pocket passer, there has to be some way to keep the outside part of the D honest or like Navy did, the DE and CB will just crash and force BB to step up. Des' mobility prevented that particular defensive strategy from being consistently effective

That all said, BB does not seem to either pick up potential blitzes coming or doesn't feel comfortable audibling out of the play called... or maybe doesn't have the freedom, who knows. He needs some help and that's where play calling, formations and offensive strategy come in. My concern is that the remaining teams on our schedule have seen a formula that works and UC is going to see more of the same until the Bearcats show that they can change their philosophy enough to make teams pay who try to ignore the outer quarter of both sides of the field. The talent is definitely out there... BB included. UC needs to motion the TEs away from the formation or use a WR in motion to chip the outside defensive rusher or run more jet sweeps or WR screens. Josh really looks like an NFL TE. He looks different this season. He got bigger and stronger.

Josh went to StX.
How does GCL S really stack up against other leagues. No way GCL S is that strong is it? Aren’t there crazy good leagues in TX, FL, CA?

Josh Whyle went to LaSalle...

GCL South is a very good Midwestern conference, but there are conferences in Texas and Florida with multiple teams in the national Top 50 rankings, particularly around Dallas, Houston, and Miami.
