We need to go ahead and call the Mountain West - dcg141 - 07-29-2022 01:34 PM

Along with SMU. Its a much better option than going back to CUSA. Possibly lure Gonzaga in as BB only. A game with Colorado State or Air Force will generate way more interest than any of the new members. Boise alone makes it better.

we get more TV money than the MWC, better exposure than the MWC, and it costs 18 million to leave the AAC.

That's the current deal based on current members. The AAC is going to never get that deal again with UNCC and UTSA ect.

I have no inside info, but I don't think the tv deal will be drastically different if it gets renegotiated. If you remember, ESPN spun up the rumor about Aresco going after Big12 leftovers and it backfired. I think ESPN realized this and probably consulted Aresco and company on what tv markets would keep the deal as close to the current one as possible. Only reason some of the schools make sense is to get a small piece of the tv markets. Just my opinion.

Memphis in the MW would seal the coffin on recruiting our own area.

We're better off where we are than being the outlier school that nobody cares about.

I get that, but there is no guarantee the MWC will look the same in six months. If the B1G takes several Pac schools, MWC will be raided. Then where are we?

Would make for a better all-around schedule except that currently the AAC pays about 1.5-2x that of the MWC & we'd miss the exit fees of those leaving.

I don't disagree with you BUT this is the same song and dance that's been going on for 30 years - alway just on the outside.... getting close; just missed out...... I don't know. Seems familiar.

I agree. If the B1G and SEC end up pushing to 24 teams then the possible third conference from the leftovers may push to 24 as well. That means we just need to be one of the top 72 schools and we could end up in a very solid conference.
