Dude...

If this actually happens, the B12 is going to have to balance out the"East." Memphis is still very much alive and kicking. Maybe even in a stronger position since the "West" question will be answered.

What do you mean? If 4 PAC 12 teams join the Big 12, you're not going to get beaten out of the Big 12 by MWC teams.

Let's slow this down, take it step by step...

If they lose 4 teams to the Big 12, there would be 6 PAC 12 "remainers." The PAC 12 would have to reload with at least 6 quality schools at that point. They would probably take 4 to 6 of the best MWC schools. In addition, they might grab a couple of the best available schools to the east, and it's conceivable that they might invite Memphis to join the PAC-12.

Another possibility is that, after losing 4-6 schools to the PAC-12, Air Force would apply for membership in the AAC, and ESPN would see that as a good business proposition for them. It's hard to imagine the AAC refusing a membership to Air Force. For all we know, Colorado State might come along with Air Force, if they haven't been snapped up by the PAC-12.

So there is a non-zero possibility that this could end up with the AAC expanding to 16 teams and adding Air Force and Colorado State. The MWC would be forced, at minimum, to reload with UTEP, NMSU, Montana, and Montana State.

That wouldn't make the AAC a power conference, but it would at least re-establish the AAC as the pre-eminent G5 FB and BB conference.

.

I think the PAC survives this as a much weaker conference, with a few new additions from the MWC and some AAC west programs.

May be exactly what will happen. Conferences with $$ on the future balance sheet don't disappear. This is why the lifeboats off of the SS PAC are apparently filling up.

Stanford goes to b10. Oregon and Washington if they cant get to the b10 they go to B12 or ACC. Cal folds their team. WSU and OSU are probably MWC.

I appreciate the sympathy. I really do, but we're toast. I'm guessing trying to get into the Big East for BB and go indy in football. It's over. Bridesmaids once again.

I said in a thread in the Big 12 forum (and others before me) that Memphis would be a better choice (much better) than Colorado

I would make Memphis and Mr. FedEx deliver the briefcase of cash FIRST before any signed offer......$100 to $150 million into an endowment for Memphis athletics, perhaps pay down some of their athletics debt as well plus guaranteed FedEx commercials for Big 12 major and minor events (plus all he wants for Memphis to their benefit)

well I stand corrected checking just now Memphis only has $8 million in athletics debt I guess using city facilities pays off really well (it sure does for Louisville) so well done on that front Memphis maybe a bit larger athletics endowment request then.....the above would generate $5 to $7.5 million per year with a 5% annual payout (what a lot of university endowments pay out annually from a multi-year rolling average)

the battery throwing futon burning buffs and their $170 million in athletics debt and worn facilities and their "here collecting a check wess coass style" attitude can stay right there on the frozen coast in the PAC 12

hell I would take CSU over them along with a similar "get some private endowment funds together" mandate

Our only chance in is if the B12 goes to 20. But I guarantee you the B12 will say we're done expanding for now while they're at 18. You can set your watch to it. We've had those F'ers put that carrot in front of us for years.

AAC isn't going to change because of that ridiculous GOR. Maybe they go to 20. Who knows. I'm sure Duke will jump in to ****-block us.

It's over. We're done. I'll get to spend more time with family though.

I'm with you, playing in a 3rd tier league is just not worth it. The football program won't survive. I bet some of the tier 2 schools pull the plug as well.
