Pure genius.

Once again the negative nellies squeak up.

Maybe the UofM Football team is on to something with this woke approach. BLM received $90M in the last 2 years. And they have land/property assets totally > $40M. Reach back out to our good ole buddies at BLM. Maybe we can name the concessions stands after them for $20M. Go all in!

People are throwing money at BLM on the sentiment of its name - not what the organization actually does or stands for. It's a money-funnel for the far Left and far Left anti-American, anti-family, Marxist, Socialist agendas. But they are good at picking a name that cleverly disguises what they are all about.

As long as those stickers and slogans are around I won't donate, attend, or otherwise support Memphis athletics.

Exactly true and what some of our psycho fans STILL don't seem to understand. Our players aren't anti American, Marxists or socialists. They are kids that have experienced racism and who have seen their families and friends experience entrenched racism over the course of decades.

When the kids decided that they wanted the decals, Silverfield and Rudd went with it, with Silverfield and Rudd both taking the time to explain exactly why the kids wanted it and why the university did it.

So while I despise virtually everything that BLM represents; at the time the decision was made, I am 100% confident that the players chose to wear the decals for reasons that are a pure (and almost non existent) part of BLM.

I think you are right but I also know that when kids make bad decisions they cannot be rewarded for the bad decision. To each his own but I personally find it difficult to be supportive of an actively destructive lie. Support for BLM is also support for full term abortion, for 'genderless' bathrooms in elementary, middle, and high schools, along with host of other anti-family agendas.

It is a shame that this is the case but anyone who is paying attention can see that being Woke = supporting hedonistic. Marxist, Socialist agendas.... Their mantras have unfortunately infested every single form of entertainment - including sports.

Yep. They replaced it with a unity patch that has a circle with hands of different colors gripping the wrists of the hand next to it. So you folks that quit donating due to the BLM stickers can open up your wallets again...

It is obvious that they are just using that as an excuse and they were never true fans of the Memphis Tigers to begin with. True fans of the Memphis Tigers would not let a sticker or slogan that was on almost every sports team in America cause them to stop supporting the Memphis Tigers. Makes no sense.

Here is a nice video from the Memphis Tigers athletes about their sticker and slogan which is "Dignity, Respect, and Equality." I think this is a great video and a great sticker and a great slogan. Go Tigers Go!

By the way--IS THERE ANYTHING-ANYTHING AT ALL -that the university or a coach of the university could do to give you pause or cause you to withdraw $$$support$$ ? Just curious

Is that a racist logo? You have the white hand of "The Man" grasping the wrist of a black person, obviously trying to subdue him for some racist reason. The black hand is grasping the wrist of an Asian person because the proliferation of Asian-owned businesses in black neighborhoods is problematic. The Asian hand is grasping a Latino wrist because Americans favor Mexican restaurants over Chinese restaurants. And the Latino hand is grasping a white wrist to prevent the racist white people from stopping the flow of illegal immigrants from Central/South America. Just asking.

No nothing would ever cause me stop loving Memphis Tiger football. Well, I guess if we are talking about unthinkable hypothetical scenarios, if the UofM cut the football program then I could no longer love it and my life would no longer have meaning and I would spend the rest of my days wandering the Earth aimlessly like Caine from Kung Fu.

The EXACT same symbol and representation as the BLM decals. No difference to THE PLAYERS in meaning between either decal. Two years later, the board dimwits still don't get it.

Well put. And even if a 20-year-old African-American Tiger student-athlete/fine young man is a Socialist — so what. I'm a 59-year-old white man who is a capitalist and has voted for Libertarians, Republicans, Democrats and Independents. I respect the rights of any decent and productive American to hold her/his political, social and religious views.

The Black Tigers players have had a vastly different experience than I. And I want to be understanding of that. I don't fully understand the BLM dynamic but I at least try.

Life is complicated. There are too many shades of gray to be close-minded and unwilling to compromise and say "Perhaps I need to look at this issue differently."

I agree with shades of everything said by all of you. Well, other than it being Silverfield and Rudd. BLM stickers were decided in 2020, after Veatch took over as AD in Oct 2019.

BLM is a marxist, socialist entity battling for power. They have done so on the backs of mostly good people. They've preyed on the weaknesses of many. I will NOT support BLM or any entity that does support BLM.

I've supported this football program when others wouldn't, including our AD. I didn't think I would ever stop going to games and supporting this team financially. My family and friends are shocked, but I have not attended since BLM stickers began. I have not given a dime to the university since. Laird Veatch from Kansas and Ryan Silvertongue from Florida do not understand Memphis. Memphis athletics is the most pure uniting force this city has. They've tainted the program and turned the stomach of many.

It's completely sad and disgusting. We FINALLY built a program! Only to cut the fanbase in half.

Life is complicated. Choose your priorities wisely.

MEMPHIS - both the city and the university - are larger than our AD and football coach. They smacked the program in the mouth. But the tides will turn. I'm still a Memphis grad. I still love my fellow Tigers. I simply will not support these clowns running our football program.

Wow

You could not have said it better.

You are not alone.

The stickers have been gone for over a year now.

Yep. They replaced it with a unity patch that has a circle with hands of different colors gripping the wrists of the hand next to it. So you folks that quit donating due to the BLM stickers can open up your wallets again...

SHIRLEY you're not serious, but:

"The word 'racism' is like ketchup. It can be put on practically anything - and demanding evidence makes you a 'racist.'"

I truly hate feeling anything but joy from Memphis football. Even in losing years they were a symbol of joy for me......prior to 2020.....
