It's interesting that you have ECU finishing ahead of Memphis and SMU.

It would be interesting to know your main reasons for rating them so highly, and why you think SMU might finish behind Tulane.

Some may be surprised that you've got Memphis finishing at #5, but it doesn't surprise me too much, considering that they finished 6-6 last season.

I guarantee Wichita will go undefeated.

1. UCF
2. Cincy
3. Houston
4. Navy
5. Memphis
6. ECU
7. SMU
8. Tulane
9. Tulsa
10. Temple
11. South Florida

I could see the top 3 being in any order but this is as good as any.

Navy will be much better than last year, but I expect ECU/Memphis/SMU all to be pretty good too. So that order could be anywhere in there for the 4-7 teams.

Tulane and Tulsa will be similar

Temple and SF are clearly the bottom two.

It is very hard to make predictions, especially about the future.

League is wide open this year. I'll say

1) Houston
2) UCF
3) Cincinnati
4) ECU
5) Memphis
6) SMU
7) Navy
8)Tulane
9) Tulsa
10) USF
11) Temple

I'll say this, I think people are timid on ECU because of recent history. While we won nailbiters against Memphis, Navy, and Marshall. We lost them vs Houston, UCF, and South Carolina.

We didn't lose much and we added a lot. We should be improved it won't shock me at all to challenge for the Cham. Cincinnati to me is interesting, I know they recruit well but a G5 losing that much talent, I'll be interested to if they are anywhere close to what they were.

1. UC, UH, UCF (take your pick)

Gap

4. ECU, SMU, Tulane (take your pick)

7. Memphis

8. Everybody else

I'm not convinced Silverfield can coach us to close wins yet. We lost 4 games last year by 3, 3, 1 and 6 points, all in games where we were favored.

Right now, unless our OL, running game and defense improve, I think we go 5-7 or 6-6 (same as last season). I would love to be wrong.

I do like that we have UCF, Memphis, Navy and Houston at home. Difficult games, but with our defense and the momentum our home crowd can create could play in our favor.

It's unbelievable the scheduling pass UH got in their final year in the conference avoiding UC and UCF. That fact puts them in the conversation with their most difficult test coming on the road at our place.

With the top level of the conference being pretty equal this season it will come down to QB play and coaching in my opinion.

i don't know about running the table, but uc will be pretty good this year. they have a lot of guys back, who have played a lot of football. to me, QB is the big question, but, even there, i think they'll be ok - bryant has more experience, and prater is a 4 star, local kid, who's been in the program a while. they also have some transfers, who I think will help - if not starting, at least on the two deep / rotations.

I'm more of a basketball fan, and haven't followed all the FB programs that closely, but Temple might surprise some people - if not this year, then next. I've heard that their recruiting has been good enough to move them up at least a few spots in the pre-season rankings, and they've got a much better coaching staff in place now.

ECU finished above Memphis last season and beat Memphis in Memphis. What reasons do you suggest for that to change.

just to clarify this isnt "predicted order of finish according to ESPN" its ESPN's "preseason BPI"... which are drastically different things. bpi is a basic algorithm

ESPN hasnt released preseason aac rankings yet... but have released their preseason top 25

13. Houston Cougars
23. Cincinnati Bearcats
https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/33763031/college-football-rankings-updated-way-too-early-top-25

bpi is essentially useless in regards to anything g5 in preseason bcus recruiting class rankings are incorporated, and the g5 even the elite ones will never match even the middling p5

Agree with this. Houston ascending, UCF quiet tough, Cincy taking a small step back due to departures. ECU getting better, Memphis not so much. Temple/USF in the pillow fight though the Bulls are two years ahead and should be better than my Owls.

If Houston is 13th in the country, ECU is vastly underrated. Maybe we played our career game. I didn't see it, I realize the total yardage doesn't include the kick return, but ECU pretty much dominates that game between the 20s. You lose 3 guys to the NFL draft and stud RB out for the year.

IDK, I am going to assume the transfer class is a big haul. But teams that return QBs that the media are in love with also tend to get a bump. Tune is one of those guys.

Yeah but Temple beat Memphis last year too, its not that big of a deal.
