Road Trips - JMURocks - 05-22-2022 10:35 AM

Kevin Warner said there is increased interest this year in tickets for away games. Which road games are you most likely to attend this year?

Hopefully every one of them. Thats the plan now.

RE: Road Trip poll - Rock House Duke - 05-22-2022 10:57 AM

I have made plans to visit Boone this Fall!

RE: Road Trip poll - JMURocks - 05-22-2022 11:34 AM

App St and ODU make sense due to history/rivalry and distance.

A little surprised no votes for Arkansas St yet. Most of the other SBC schools we will see the next year at BFS, with Arkansas St it may be a long time before we play them again. The poll is multiple choice, in case thats not obvious.

RE: Road Trip poll - JMU85 - 05-22-2022 01:10 PM

App St for obvious reasons and Ga Southern since it is only 90 minute drive.

RE: Road Trip poll - JMURocks - 05-22-2022 01:27 PM

Looked up driving times from Harrisonburg:
- ODU, 3 hours
- App St, 4 hours
- Louisville, 7 hours (thought this was further)
- Georgia Southern, 8 hours
- Arkansas St, 11.5 hours

While Astate doesn’t necessarily offer anything unique directly in town, we are sandwiched between some pretty awesome destination locations (Memphis, St Louis, Little Rock)

Jonesboro is easy to get to from Memphis. Plenty of free parking close to the stadium and the BBQ Pork Nachos are fantastic.

App St. And maybe ODU.

If anyone is going to the Louisville game feel free to ask me anything about the area. Places to stay, eat, things to do etc. I’ve lived there for the past 5 years. Moving away this summer but I hope to return for the game in November if my schedule allows it

RE: Road Trip poll - Bill - 05-22-2022 05:31 PM

App and ODU trips are already booked. Louisville is a possibility.

RE: Road Trip poll - KickItToScotty - 05-22-2022 06:57 PM

For sure going to ODU. Hopefully both App and Louisville, almost definitely at least one of the two though.

We’ll have a contingent in Boone. Booked our ABnB the day the schedule came out.

Really don't care much for Memphis or St. Louis, spent 9 months at NAS Memphis back in the 80's and about the only two things interesting for me was Beale Street and Elvis' home. Traveled to St. Louis several times and really don't care to go back. Little Rock has got to be a better visit. Frankly, I'd prefer hanging out in Jonesboro.

Interested in and going to are two very different things.

RE: Road Trips - Deez Nuts - 05-23-2022 09:21 AM

Where is the checkbox for "I'm interested, but I have an infant, so realistically I'm not going anywhere for a long time"

Road Trips - Centdukesfan - 05-23-2022 10:06 AM

I'll be at Louisville

Can the "an infant" option expand to "a calm 4 year old that would be an easy addition to a tailgate and game, but also a 2 year old who climbs to the top of our fridge, must be watched every second as he is a legitimate flight risk, and would spend the entire game trying to crawl under bleaches to hide"?

I started pushing a 4 day weekend away from the kids for the Louisville game & distillery visits as soon as it was announced. I continued to push that over the SBC road games that will repeat (although won't have the first year allure) following the move up.

RE: Road Trips - 14SemesterDuke - 05-23-2022 01:02 PM

ODU and App St. is booked already.

Would love to go to Louisville and/or Ark St, but long travel isn't in the cards this fall.

RE: Road Trips - jmufan2008 - 05-23-2022 01:44 PM

The 3 year old would be fine on a roadtrip (or could be watched by grandparents), but we have a second one due in July and that means most likely no road trips this season. However, with my in-laws living in Williamsburg, we may be able to swing ODU. We'll see. However, I'm looking forward to future road trips to Appy, GaSt, GaSo, Coastal (if only because we can stay in Wilmington and drive to the game from there), and a few others. It's definitely going to be a fun conference to be in.

Also...BBQ Pork Nachos???? Yes please.
