Lindenwood, Southern Indiana to Join The Summit League as Affiliate Members
Summit Commissioner Josh Fenton announced Wednesday that Lindenwood University and the University of Southern Indiana will become Summit League affiliate members for the sports of men’s soccer and men’s and women’s swimming and diving for the 2022-23 academic year.
Lindenwood, located in St. Charles, Mo., and Southern Indiana, located in Evansville, Ind., were both members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference at the Division II level and the department’s other sports teams will compete in the Ohio Valley Conference as they start the DI transition.
As a Denver fan, I am not a big fan of this for soccer. I like the non league flexibility Denver has now of playing a nationally competitive non-league schedule of top 20 programs. Taking away two RPI opportunities in return for two D-II play ups seems like a downer...

I hear what you’re saying, but I think Lindenwood and SI are both strong programs already that won’t have all that much trouble. It won’t be instant, so that’s bad for DU, but both have long and rich soccer heritage going for them.
