Kent Golfers in the Pros—2022 - axeme - 03-26-2022 12:27 PM

Time for a new thread, especially with Corey Conners, Mac Hughes, and Taylor Pendrith all playing full-time. Conners and Hughes look to be solid bets to make the International team for the Presidents Cup this year.

Conners won his group to advance to the knockout stage of the WGC Match Play Championship in Austin this week. He just won his first match 5&3 this morning and advances to the afternoon quarterfinals. Playing really steady golf.

Current FedEx Cup Standings

28. Hughes
63. Pendrith — having a great start to his rookie season!
75. Conners

Connors is going to move way up that list because he is now in the semi-finals of the WGC match play event and cannot finish worse than tied for 3rd.

Really solid victory over Abraham Ancer in the quarters. Faces a previous champion and guy who has been hot this week in the semis: Kevin Kisner. Winner of this match will face the winner of the Dustin Johnson v Scottie Scheffler match.

Semis are on Golf Channel at 10 EDT.

Tied through 16 in the semis. This is getting exciting.

You jinxed him!!

I did! Dang. Well, 3rd or 4th is still really good for a WGC event.

Went 4-up through 6 vs DJ, now 3-up thru 8. A third place finish would jump him from 75th place to up inside the top 30, plus a nice little $800K+ check.

Corey wins 3 up with one to go. Huge week and off to San Antonio next week where he won his first PGA tourney after Monday qualifying.

Nice $852k payout, congrats Corey!

Surprised there’s no mention of the Masters. Corey fading a bit Sunday, but should still have a nice payday when he’s done. MacKenzie is further down near the bottom of the board.

It’s all about Tiger.

Good for Tiger to come back. It'll be interesting if he can find the elite golfer in him again.

Conners looks like he is heading for a T6, which is great and puts him into next year's masters.

Hughes kind of flubbed up after making the cut but will still finish T50.

CC takes home $521k for his solid T6 finish.
Other notables:
Champion Scottie Scheffler $2.7 million
Tiger 47th / $43k
Mac Hughes T50th / $37k

Where's Taylor Pendrith been? Well, he broke a rib swinging a golf club (ow) and now, when he's ready to return, he ends up with COVID. Get well soon.

Corey Conners finished T26 at the Open with Mac Hughes missing the cut. Also saw Pendrith back out this weekend, golfing in the Barracuda Championship and in the 20s at the moment.

T11 for Pendrith. Pendrith has scored good FedEx Cup points the last two weeks and has (in all likelihood) done enough to keep his PGA card for next year, even though he lost 4 months of the season.

Doesn't hurt that golfers are leaving for LIV.

Connors and Pendrith finished the weekend just a few dollars apart.

Connors ($90,917)
Pendrith ($89,725)
