Maybe? Not sure if it works like that since Toledo was the higher seed in the first game but Akron was on the bench Kent got.

It will be hard to avoid Akron or Kent State fans tonight. I assume plenty will buy tickets today and tonight and will be scattered around the arena. I was near a group of Akron fans in both the quarters and semis. I imagine even the Kent section will have some.

The thing about playing Akron vs Toledo is Toledo really choked last night. Toledo missed 15 free throws. Akron was given a gift last night.
We do need more from Carry. He scored 15 last night, but had some bad misses. Sincere, can you score 45 tonight? I hope Akron's trash talking fans will motivate him more than get in his head.

Not sure I agree about Carry, Alpha. I thought his floor game in the second half was impressive. He was off and figured out a way to get his teammates involved and eventually found some big buckets. If the Flashes get production from Jacobs, Beck, Garcia, Hamilton AND Carry…Akron will likely be in trouble because goodness knows they will try to shut him down.
That said, 45 would be just fine.
Muscle, finish and limit Zip possessions to one shot.

A snapchat (for those of you over 60, don’t ask) video is making its rounds this morning of our players singing and dancing in the locker room last night to what appears to be a homemade, expletive-laced song directed at Akron.
Either our guys have the confidence of a lion or they are too stupid to remember what happened one cold night at Alumni Arena.

Ugh. The rivalry should be about going hard on both ends, a little trash talk here and there and bringing energy. The fringe stuff is dangerous anymore. It leads to nonsense. Play ball and have fun fellas!!
Now that I've seen it, I'm disgusted. I know that kids today are "about" different things than past generations and that social media apps like tic tac, snapchat and instagram have made this sort of stuff seem "normal." But none of that changes that these guys are representing Kent State, their team and themselves. I cringe thinking that middle school players see stuff like this and think it is acceptable. I'm not sure there is any turning back from this sort of junk but I sure hope this one is addressed in whatever way KSU/KSU athletics/KSU basketball feels it needs to be.

Well, that video really is something. Tonight's a powderkeg. This could hurt us by making the refs call it really tight right from the tip. That doesn't help an aggressive defensive team, although Akron is also an aggressive defensive team. Tonight is going to be an all out fight.

Hey let’s be honest they have been living on the edge with that stuff all season. They are the opponents you love to hate. They are good enough to get away with it but when they lose a game which every team does somebody will say it’s because they provided bulletin board material. I wish they wouldn’t do it and I’d hate them if they were the other team but we can’t do much about. After 71 years like a lot of you we’ve seen this before and it can’t be used to predict anything. As for middle school kids if Kent didn’t do it they would find other teams that would on tik tok. They don’t watch Howdy Doody and Mr. Kangaroo any more.

Anti-Zip I think you are only looking at the short term. If the University President, Athletic Director, head coach, MAC Commissioner don't take action today the issue will have far greater negative results than a gameday decision.
How do corporate sponsors, athletic donors, high school students considering Kent for their undergraduate work look at this? Would you like taking the calls this morning from people who have put their money into Kent State and are disgusted by that video?
I don't think letting it slide or handing out a warning is a good option.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like a 30 second video of a bench player singing Eff Akron probably isn't making sponsors, donors, and future students reconsider.
