they asked for 35mil each on top of the 10mil standard

the article note that number wont hold, but notes the AAC intends to get more than the 7mil it got from UConn

still being negotiated

105 million from 3 teams for one year they won't play when the TV deal is 83 million per year is a ballsy ask.

If they are staying remotely in that stratosphere they aren't negotiating in good faith. Leave, let them sue and prove damages that are even a fraction of that.

Good luck with that one, Aresco.

Paywall: Anyone want to quote the article with some copy/paste

Can't read due to paywall, but from what's posted in here .. i'm gonna go with reporters sources misheard/misinterpreted something that was passed through the telephone game.

i basically summarized it.. their initial ask 35 mil on top of the 10 mil

it has been negotiated down some (the article doesn't say how much), but the aac wants more than what they got from uconn

and then finishes the article by stating aresco thinks the number will be settled in the coming months and he believes it'll be fair (from a january interview)

it's a short article

the article is from a credible reporter.. but likely a negotiation tactic than likely final number

Was wondering when we'd start hearing what conditions the AAC is stiuplating. Sounds like they expect the number to bounce back and forth a bit so they end up with something above the regular $10mil fee and any extra to exit early.

Pay up, or stay the required amount of time. You aren't special.

LOL. This thread is going to nuts fast.

I mean that's what is going to happen the question is what does "pay up " mean? It''s at least 10 million ad that's the buyout. The amount owed for leaving early is unknown. It can be negotiated or determined via proven specific damages in a lawsuit.

RE: AAC asking UH, UC and UCF for 45mil exit fees EACH - goodknightfl - 03-02-2022 01:38 PM

Well, guess we need to stay one more year, and settle on 10mil out the door.

RE: AAC asking UH, UC and UCF for 45mil exit fees EACH - Jugnaut - 03-02-2022 01:40 PM

That's not a good faith number. No one will pay that. We'd stay another year or just ditch and let a court come up with a fair number before agreeing to that.

Negotiations are funny things, LOL. The AAC fully knows that is a BS proposal but wanted to kick it off with the outrageous.

UConn paid $17m to leave with an 11 month notice. UC, UCF, and UH gave their formal notice in Sept 2021 which is a 22 month notice to leave in July 2023.

That is 5 months earlier than the AAC required 27 month notice (but who actually would leave March 1, 2024?).

I think the three departing schools pay around $13m each MAX. I also think this will be announced probably around June this year before their final season in the AAC.

RE: AAC asking UH, UC and UCF for 45mil exit fees EACH - bearcatmark - 03-02-2022 01:44 PM

Pesik's post does seem to imply that was a starting number and the negotiations are making progress so maybe it won't matter at all. I suspect settlement will be in the neighborhood of what UConn paid out the door (more likely to be less than more). I just don't see the conference proving significant damages beyond that amount if Houston/UC/UCF just paid the 10 million, left and said sue us.

arresto is going gangsta on "the three"......hopefully it works out better than his "gangsta" on The Big 12

RE: AAC asking UH, UC and UCF for 45mil exit fees EACH - The Knight Time - 03-02-2022 02:02 PM

Sorry, UConn paid $11M with way less notice. Precedent matters.

This figures for a deadbeat like Aresco though. Sat on his hands for the entirety of 2017 and 2018, watched these 3 teams generate the entirety of NY6 and CFP revenue for the conference, then tries to screw these schools when moving to the Big 12.

He's a visionless grifter so this makes sense. He won't see anywhere near this money.

RE: AAC asking UH, UC and UCF for 45mil exit fees EACH - otown - 03-02-2022 02:04 PM

For a conference that pays each school around $7 million a year to ask for essentially $35 million to leave early, that is outrageous. What damages can be proven in court? The left behind members are not getting their pay cut, the conference has 6 new members ready to come on board when those 3 depart......I am failing to see any substantial damages at all?

If AAC does not negotiate in good faith, I say go to court....... a judge will look at it more realistically and may even award less money than the AAC would have gotten if they were negotiating in good faith and came to an agreement out of court.
