2022 Baseball - dannyb73 - 02-19-2022 11:29 PM

0-2 after today's loss to WVU. Starting like last year ended. I am ready for a change in leadership of this program.

And yes, I get it's only 2 games, but I felt it should have already been done.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...

Duncan reminds me of Sendy a little bit, (I know they are on an 8 game win streak), but what I mean is just feels a tad under standards at Kent State.

At the same, I wouldn't let either go, unless confident in hire. Not just making a change for the sake of change

It is certainly frustrating to watch programs that we care about struggle. Especially when, as fans, we can't help but question the leadership.

Embarrassing, in the article about the extension we get the same D3 feel we get each time we see the other Head Coaches are out there doing the work of janitors.

Quote:When contacted about his contract extension on Wednesday, Duncan was on his way to Schoonover Stadium to help shovel snow off the field.

“I'm required to do so much here
, but I love it,” said Duncan. “We drink out of a water hose here. We're blue collar. We work hard, we’re going to play hard, play to win, and we’re going to have more fun than the other team. That part of it all is pretty simple.”

I just don't think he has the same quality of players that his predecessors had. Doesn't seem like he recruits well or develops the kids to their full potential. I am not sure what it is exactly, but the results have been less than stellar.

RE: 2022 Baseball - Older and Older - 02-21-2022 09:14 AM

Great win yesterday 2-1 with run in top of 9th to pull it out

Coastal Carolina a quality program with top notch facilities.

Duncan just signed extension and is going nowhere. BTW defending MAC
champs CMU played same teams as us this weekend and went 0-3. Blown out by WVU.

Let’s give our kids a few games to get game ready. Remember, these southern teams practice outside all year. Our first time outside likely was these 3 games. I watched 2 of them on ESPN and while our pitching is still in spring training form our coaches are up to the challenge. Let’s give it a few more weeks before throwing in the towel after 2 or 3 games

To be clear, I am going to follow and support all season regardless. That's in my blood. And I am not throwing in the towel on the season. I am just less than impressed with Duncan (and I agree, now that the extension article was posted, he's not going anywhere).

And now we have the athletes doing the manual labor. SMH

Swept by Texas Tech

I am sure that Ryan Day's squad helps with stuff like this all the time. Same thing with Tom Izzo's boys.

Now that’s funny.

Back in the W column with a convincing win over Austin Peay in Clarksville today. Good day for the Flashes pitchers.

RE: 2022 Baseball - GoFlashes8 - 03-10-2022 01:59 PM

Kent State is 4-5 now on the season headed into the biggest conference series of the year vs CMU. DH on Friday, 1 game Saturday, & 1 game Sunday. This will be a great benchmark to see where they stand vs the MAC Baseball favorite. 6 players are off to a great start at the plate, but it really drops off after them. Left field is still a mystery as to who the long term starter will be.

RE: 2022 Baseball - dannyb73 - 03-11-2022 02:05 PM

Flashes walk off on CMU in game 1. Win 1-0.

Yes, complete game shutout by Richie Dell.

RE: 2022 Baseball - cschierh - 03-11-2022 10:45 PM

Lost the second game 6-5.

RE: 2022 Baseball - JimJoyce - 03-13-2022 03:00 PM

Saturday and Sundays games were cancelled.

It’s almost like having an Ohio snow belt team and the northernmost MAC team playing each other on opening weekend was a bad idea.

RE: 2022 Baseball - bopol - 03-13-2022 05:53 PM

I wish the baseball season started and ended later for the sake of the northern teams. Maybe Kent can do some southern trips on weekends in March and then the MAC season goes from April to Early June.
