RE: AAC non conference Schedule 2022 - Atlanta - 01-11-2022 06:10 PM

Memphis isn't selling many tickets with that home schedule.

RE: AAC non conference Schedule 2022 - Magic95Fan - 01-11-2022 07:39 PM

Curious if North Texas and Memphis will keep their game since that was going to be the first of a home and home. Obviously game 2 won't be played as an OOC.

RE: AAC non conference Schedule 2022 - ncbeta - 01-11-2022 09:30 PM

Man look at all of those 7 home game schedules. P5, am I right??

RE: AAC non conference Schedule 2022 - st932253 - 01-11-2022 10:00 PM

With UCF playing at usf this year, we will have 9/12 games in Florida.

Houston n North Texas always have good football matchups

My point, don’t for one minute overlook North Texas they’re a good football program… Definitely a football program to watch.

Not s’yn… Just s’yn

Probably depends on how the divisions split. If they’re in separate divisions then the game might remain as a non-conference game. Seen several conferences do that for various reasons.

Four games match current v future members.

North Texas doubling up with Memphis & SMU
Houston plays both UTSA and Rice

Question: if USF was playing at UCF this year wouldn’t that still be a Florida game?

Follow up question: isn’t this type of provincialism exactly what y’all have criticized schools like Florida for doing?

Florida refused to go out of conference out of the state for almost 30 years. It just happens to shake out that way for us this year. Both our big OOC games (Louisville and GATech are home). FAU or FIU are almost always on the schedule anyways and usf is in conference. We went to Louisville last year. Its a home and home. Just the way the schedule shakes out that we will have the home crowd for 9 games this year.

Why do y'all play such awful OOC schedules?

It's their version of the B-10 padding the home win schedule playing "WHACK-A-MAC" for 3 home victories. 04-jawdrop 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao COGS COGS 04-cheers

Most TIGER fans absolutely agree playing North Alabama is wrong when there are several local schools like UT Martin or UT Chat that would like to get the paycheck. Ark. State and Miss State are series already contracted. North Texas is a two game H&H as MEMPHIS is scheduled to travel there in 2023 (set up in 2019, I think).

Regarding P5 OOC games, the problem is that since 2014 MEMPHIS has split games with UCLA (1-1), Ole Miss (2-2), whipped Kansas (2-0), lost to Missouri (play return game in 2023), beat Miss State last year and play there in the 2022 opener and played Penn State a competitive game in the Cotton Bowl.

MEMPHIS has reached out to various P5 opponents for H&H series but amazingly after the TIGERS won the games cited above.....the P5 schools only want 2-1 deals or 1 game at their place. There is one lone exception: Miss State still agrees to play MEMPHIS H&H. Ole Miss will not anymore. Tennessee refuses to play MEMPHIS at all; they still owe us a home game from 2006/2013/2016 series of postponements. I suspect the Vols will end up paying some amount to cancel playing that final game in MEMPHIS.

Here are the future P5 games that MEMPHIS has signed through 2029:
2023 - Missouri (end H&H deal)
2024 - at Florida State (1 buy game $750,000)
2025 - Arkansas
2026 - at Arkansas
2027 - none
2028 - at Arkansas (final game of 2-1 deal; TIGERS get $1m for this final game), Mississippi State
2029 - at Mississippi State (end of H&H deal)

MEMPHIS also has a H&H with Boise State for 2030/31.

technically, fwiw, UC's game next year with Miami is a "road" game - but, Miami plays every other of their home games in the series at Paul Brown Stadium. So, it will be played downtown, on the river, not at Nippert - and, i know, it really shouldn't matter much

RE: AAC non conference Schedule 2022 - ArmoredUpKnight - 01-12-2022 02:34 PM

What's the likelihood any of the opponents are preseason ranked?

Arkansas
Ole Miss
Louisville (if Malik Cunningham returns)

Look at the other thread about ESPN early poll.

Nice! Thanks

USF: BYU- home
ECU: NCST- home, @ BYU
Navy: Notre Dame
Tulsa: @ Ole Miss
UC: @Arkansas

So ECU has the strongest OOC schedule. They were good this year, might be the year of the Pirate. That will be interesting.

I assume the AAC schedule makers will give ECU a favorable schedule and make it harder on UCF/Houston/Cincy.

NC State will probably be top 15.

Since we're doing this....

Well, actually... the Notre Dame Navy game at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium on 12 November is a Navy home game in the home-and-home series which was recently extended to 2032.
The important point for this board is that the game is part of the AAC inventory in the primary media rights deal with ESPN. So this, plus one NMCMS game will be on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 with all the "AAC on ESPN" branding you could want.
The crowd will almost certainly be pro-ND (I'd guess 60-70% Irish). But that's okay because their ticket $$$ will be coming back to Annapolis.
Otherwise, will have "home game" features such as the entire Brigade of Midshipmen marching on, flyover/parachutists, etc.
We have a solid relationship with M&T and the Ravens organization, so these are always good events.
