Despite the advance notice for weeks that ‘far-right’ extremist groups planned to descend on the capitol for the Electoral College certification of the 2020 election results, the National Guard maintained a light footprint due to a purported fear of “optics.” The Capitol Police went so far as to swing open barricades, hold doors open to the Capitol building, wave protesters into the building, and stand idly by as unarmed characters defiled the Senate chamber with their presumably unwanted presence.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, we have since learned since this surreal event, had infiltrated these groups and were monitoring events on the ground. Text messages from January 6 have been revealed in court showing that members of the far-right groups at the riots were not doing so according to the ‘orders’ of Donald Trump — although some disparate MAGA moms believed that to be the case.

It gets even worse. A year later, on January 3, 2022, it has been revealed that the FBI had been training for a contingency such as the Capitol Riots days ahead of the event. Newsweek reported on this in an exclusive:

On Sunday, January 3, the heads of a half-dozen elite government special operations teams met in Quantico, Virginia, to go over potential threats, contingencies, and plans for the upcoming Joint Session of Congress. The meeting, and the subsequent deployment of these shadowy commandos on January 6, has never before been revealed.

The report lists the FBI assets that were preparing for the potential of an emergency at the convening of the Electoral College:

The contingency units meeting on January 3 included the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team, the FBI’s national “Render Safe” team, an FBI SWAT team from the Baltimore Field Office, Special Response Teams from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the U.S. Marshals Service Special Operations Group.

These tactical assets were ‘pre-deployed’ and were prepared to deploy deadly force to stop threats to the Congress:

All of these assets were “pre-deployed” and ready to go over the weekend of January 2-3, staging out of the FBI Academy complex in Quantico, 30 miles south of the Capitol building. If a WMD or terrorist attack occurred, the units were to move via helicopter to the site of the incident. The activation of the catastrophic response units, operating under plans already approved by President Trump, entailed an automatic green light allowing federal responders to take the initiative and spare no resources, including shoot-to-kill authority, to deal with this most extraordinary condition.

Newsweek explains the reported actions undertaken by members of this secret tactical unit:

On the morning of January 6, most of these forces staged closer to downtown Washington, particularly after intelligence was received indicating a possible threat to FBI headquarters building or the FBI’s Washington Field Office. FBI tactical teams arrived on Capitol Hill early in the day to assist in the collection of evidence at sites—including the Republican and Democratic party national headquarters—where explosive devices were found. FBI SWAT teams and snipers were deployed to secure nearby congressional office buildings. Other FBI agents provided selective security around the U.S. Capitol and protection to congressional members and staff.

A tactical team of the Hostage Rescue Team was one of the first external federal agencies to actually enter the Capitol after protestors breached the building. In addition to augmentation of emergency security assets, one team coordinated with the U.S. Capitol Police and Secret Service to provide additional safeguarding of Vice President Pence, who had been moved to the underground parking structure beneath the Capitol, from where he was supposed to evacuate. But Pence refused to leave the building and stayed underground instead.

The actions undertaken by these secret operators under the Justice Department’s authority is yet another indication that there were authority figures who anticipated a riot could develop, but failed to seriously intervene:

The presence of these extraordinary forces under the control of the Attorney General—and mostly operating under contingency plans that Congress and the U.S. Capitol Police were not privy to—added an additional layer of highly armed responders. The role that the military played in this highly classified operation is still unknown, though FBI sources tell Newsweek that military operators seconded to the FBI, and those on alert as part of the National Mission Force, were present in the metropolitan area.

If there were hostile actors who actually intended to inexplicably overturn the results of the 2020 election through force — a belief that defies any realistic grounding — then the FBI failing to intervene with deadly force is a dereliction of duty, and the Capitol Police holding the doors open is tantamount to high treason. However, the Justice Department has not charged anyone with treason or “insurrection,” thereby falsifying the media’s narrative on January 6.

The FBI has since been unable to corroborate any evidence that former President Donald Trump had anything personally to do with the far-right siege of the Capitol building, contrary to the fetid imagination of his detractors. One can argue that he should have done more (even this charge is contradicted to an extent by his pronouncement to his actual supporters at his speech to “peacefully and patriotically” make their voices heard), but the argument that Trump was somehow responsible rests on feet of clay.

That is not what the American people are going to hear this week, as the President and Vice President intend to revisit the January 6 event and fearmonger about the “danger to democracy” posed by the event. While the far-right extremists that sullied that day should not have interfered in a peaceful transfer of power after a rightfully contested election, it should not be lost that at the end of the day it was a riot.

Unlike the rioters that Democrats applauded throughout 2020, Donald Trump actually condemned those who participated in it. And to this day, more people refuse to accept the results of Trump’s election in 2016 than Biden’s election in 2020.

This is due to a shameless left-wing corporate media that sabotaged the former president from his first day in office. Those dishonest media outlets are the ones who represent the real “danger to democracy.”
