UTSA - KevMo4UAB - 12-30-2021 11:12 PM

UTSA (301) at UAB (50), Saturday 1 January 2022

The Roadrunners are 6-6 on the season, and a KenPom ranking of 301 makes them the worst ranked team in C-USA. Their best win is a 5-point win over Sam Houston State (239). Their worst loss is a 3-point defeat to Division II Texas A&M Commerce. They didn’t play tonight because Middle Tennessee had to postpone the game.

KenPom has it UAB 82 - UTSA 61.

The Massey Composite has UTSA ranked 295 and UAB 53.

Yikes, they lost to a D2 school in season? I’m guessing margin of victory matters with NET/KenPom, so hopefully we take care of business.

Seems like it's got to be the last year for Henson right? Including this season his average KenPom is just under 200 for the past 5 seasons, I really doubt the AAC is going to be on board with that kind of continued performance (or at least I hope they're not).

Anyway, hope we win by 40.

UAB last played UTSA 2/27/2021 and lost in San Antonio 96-79. To date, this 17 point loss is Andy Kennedy’s biggest loss at UAB.

Anyone else missing?

RE: UTSA - BlazerMatt - 01-01-2022 02:52 PM

Buffen & Walker back in the starting 5.

RE: UTSA - BlazerMatt - 01-01-2022 03:16 PM

They look shell shocked against our pressure. 21-9 good guys. even though neither team is shooting well, we killing them with rebounds and turnovers.

RE: UTSA - BlazerMatt - 01-01-2022 03:17 PM

Rongie first big off the bench. wonder if we will see LeBlanc?

RE: UTSA - KevMo4UAB - 01-01-2022 03:18 PM

UAB leading 21-13

RE: UTSA - BlazerMatt - 01-01-2022 03:20 PM

We are shooting 35% from the field and 22% from 3... Winning ugly is still winning!

RE: UTSA - BlazerMatt - 01-01-2022 03:24 PM

LeBlanc in after 2nd foul on Trey.

Poor Quan Jackson. Dude just missed a 17 foot jumper by three feet. He was a slightly below average shooter last year, but he has a case of the yips now and every time he goes to shoot you can tell he doesnt want to.

He’s shooting sub-15% from three this year, likely even worse after this game. He was definitely not a good shooter before this year, but his shooting percentages have fallen completely off a cliff.

42-25, 3:17 left in the first

RE: UTSA - The Answer UAB - 01-01-2022 03:38 PM

Is AK going back on his rule of only playin an 8-9 man rotation? He’s played over ten guys in both conference games so far.

RE: UTSA - BlazerMatt - 01-01-2022 03:39 PM

Watching the ladies game against UTSA in San Antonio. We are up there 24-14 despite only shooting 30% from the field

I think that rule was against quality competition. We've yet to face that in conference play.

I’m impressed with LeBlanc.
