Absolutely no way that was accurate for UAB this past year.

It’s correct. It’s tickets sold and it’s good. I expect attendance to grow 1,500 to 2,500 per year.

I doubt there are many accurate numbers on there, regardless of the school.

Man, if this board any more upbeat, it would be a funeral.

95% of schools post sold attendance and not butts-in-seats attendance. There are only a few who do not.

Actual attendance almost always translates to 60-75% of announced for every school, that includes P5s and SEC teams.

Our attendance this year was fantastic considering we started home games in October and our opponents averaged an over 10 hour drive to come to the game. The only home opponent within 8 hours driving distance was La. Tech. We didn't get to host a FCS or nearby Alabama school to pad the early September attendance numbers either. Not getting to host a September game itself is significant when it comes to actual attendance. If we had we would be looking at a 27 or 28k average for the year.

Good year. Hopefully we see an increase next year.

Thank you for a rational, positive observation on current and future attendance. The combination of rational and positive seem quite rare on this forum these days.

Excited to see what a normal schedule looks like in protective next year... Hope they announce the opening home game soon.

Yes. I don’t enjoy sunshine pumping but the constant stream of know-it-all negativity from a few expert couch coaches is quite tiresome. Not much fun to read the same repetitive and predictable crap every day. Teams are never perfect. Coaches make mistakes and are hard headed. Some decisions yield poor results. Some teams have better players or some games we get out coached. Happens everywhere in sports. Call it out if you must and then move on. Please.

I would think either Alabama State or Alabama A&M... OR, perhaps Jackson State and Neon Deion... any of these three would provide a great turnout (the latter perhaps the biggest, honestly), and factor in the good vibes from the bowl win... I'm thinking a big crowd to kick off the 2022 season... you still have to factor in the pandemic issue from this past season, where some folks just aren't going to get into a crowd... hopefully it will be quelled significantly by next fall...

RE: FBS Attendance - ATTALLABLAZE - 12-31-2021 12:12 PM

It's not Jackson State. They have the opening opponent but for some reason have not announced it. Could have something to do with the exact date.

I’m hoping for a Thursday night. We’ve had great crowds on opening Thursdays. Huge crowd against Savannah State who may have brought 150 people. It was all UAB fans for that one.

RE: FBS Attendance - DuelingDragon - 12-31-2021 06:35 PM

We need an opening Thursday and hopefully at least 2 home games in September and two in October. We draw our best crowds before Oct. 20 historically. Would be great if there is at least one other midweek home game.

Hard to know impact of realignment on schedule but if the old schedule was in place we would have been looking at home FCS (presumably), Georgia Southern and conference home games against UTSA, Marshall, Southern Miss and North Texas. That would have been a strong slate for attendance.
